Teens With Guns Rob Sheena Greitens

Post Dispatch reports (See it here) that “the wife of Governor-elect Eric Greitens was robbed at gunpoint Monday night as she left a restaurant in the Central West End and police said three suspects are in custody… The robbery happened shortly after 6 p.m. near Cafe Ventana, a restaurant just west of the campus of St. Louis University. Sheena Greitens was sitting inside her vehicle in the parking lot of the restaurant when her car door was suddenly opened by a suspect, police said.

The suspect pointed a gun at Greitens and demanded her property, police said. Greitens gave the suspect her laptop and cellphone. She saw several men or boys running from the scene, police said.

Police arrived on the scene and discovered that another car in the parking lot had been broken into and a man’s cellphone was taken. The man tracked his cellphone, which led officers to the 4200 block of Shreve Avenue.

Officers got behind a suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled and was involved in an accident, police said. No one was injured. Three male teenagers got out of the car and fled from the scene on foot before they were taken into custody, police said. The suspects are ages 14, 15 and 19….”

Eric Greitens will hold a press conference at 10AM today.

Deer Fight To Go To The Voters?

Marc Ellinger filed five very similar initiative petitions (see one of them here) which would amend the Missouri Constitution to give the Missouri Conservation Commission “primary authority over the regulation of privately-owned big game species…”  And big game species is defined to include “all cervids.”

You might remember this controversy from sessions past.  Catch up on it by reading through the Deer Association’s news here.  Ultimately the issue landed in courts, and this constitutional amendment appears to be written to be the final word on the matter.

More State Senate 2018

Yesterday I wrote about some state representatives changing their committees toward running for Senate in 2018.

Others who has recently as well… In Senate 8 (Will Kraus termed) there are now three reps with committees for that seat.  In addition to out-going Rep. Sheila Solon, Floor Leader Mike Cierpiot’s committee (See it here) and Rep. Gary Cross’s committee (See it here) indicate they are eyeing the race.

In Senate 16, I’ve previously written that Justin Brown, the son of the current incumbent, Dan Brown, has a committee; as does Zech Hockersmith (who may not be legit; he ran for House as a Dem a few years back).  Rep. Diane Franklin is also part of this pack. (See it here).

In Senate 28, Rep. Sandy Crawford has amended her committee to seek Mike Parson’s seat.  See it here.  I assume we’ll get a special election from Governor Greitens on that seat this spring.

In Senate 32, where Ron Richard is termed, Rep. Bill White’s committee now says he’s looking at Senate. (See it here).

And as I’ve previously written Rep. Sue Allen’s committee says her office sought is Senate 24 (Jill Schupp seeking re-election); and Rep. Eric Burlison’s committee doesn’t specify a district, but he’s expected to run for Senate 20 (Jay Wasson termed).

Kinder Encouraged to Join Trump Administration?

Could Peter Kinder be headed to DC?  See it here.

Pull Quote: “I’m investigating a couple of different opportunities in the private sector that do not include lobbying,” says Kinder. “I’ve also had some encouragement, but nothing concrete, to join the Trump administration.”

McCaskill + Trump Against Republicans?

Is it too early to start wedging the Republicans?  Not for Senator Claire McCaskill

One MOScout reader spies this.  “Missouri Democratic U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, in an official Senate e-mail with her senate.gov address, publicly invokes being on the same side of an issue as President-Elect Trump and using it as a wedge against Speaker Ryan and the GOP House… McCaskill is a wise hand at nurturing Republican Balkanization…

 Subject: What's wrong with #BuyAmerica?

I've spent years making sure that Missouri's manufacturers can compete on a level playing field... which is why I'm so disappointed that U.S. House Republicans are trying to send American tax dollars abroad, instead of investing here at home… Under a bipartisan #BuyAmerica provision—which was passed by the Senate in a water infrastructure bill, and supported by Senate Republicans and President-elect Trump—taxpayer funded infrastructure projects would employ American workers and use American iron and steel, boosting American jobs and supporting American business. But U.S. House Republicans are pushing to remove those protections, allowing foreign companies to get government business instead.

I can't for the life of me figure out why the U.S. House refuses to get onboard and buy and hire American—but I'm fighting to restore these provisions and pass them into law….

MOScouters Say Dugger Done Broke Da Law

Reader 1: There is no question that Duggar broke the law, which clearly states "until six months after the *expiration of any term* of office for which such person was elected or appointed."

Reader 2: My reading is Dugger broke the law. But the chances [Missouri] Ethics does anything are somewhere around zero…
