New Negative Ads

See John Brunner’s latest TV commercial attacking Eric Greitens here.  In the 30 seconds it hits Greitens on “religious liberty,” gay marriage, immigration, praising Barack Obama, asking for stimulus money and attending the Democratic convention. Whew.

Greitens Strikes Back with two 15-second ads. See his anti-Brunner ad here.  It says that Brunner had “hundreds of thousands in insider government deals” and off-shore tax accounts.  The tag is “Too Dishonest for Missouri.”

And see his anti-Catherine Hanaway ad here. It uses footage of her at a forum where she says that she didn’t say she would repeal Obamacare.

Probably another week of nastiness, and then everyone pivots back to positive for the final weekend?

Meanwhile

Democrat Chris Koster added another $175K from labor unions…

Residency Charges

Mike Carter – running the Senate 23 Republican primary – sent out a press release “welcoming” Bill Eigel and “congratulating” him on his one-year anniversary of living in the district.  See it here.

Pull Quote: Having lived in Missouri Senate District 23 for twenty-two years, Mike Carter is well aware of all the great things SD23 has to offer. "It's an amazing place to live and a great place to raise kids. I've lived here a very long time and am proud to call it home," Carter said. Carter has also owned and operated his law firm, Carter Law Offices, in the heart of the district since 2004… "Bill's new around here. He moved into this district very recently and I'm sure he'll grow to love it just as much as I do."

And Tommy Siam says he thinks that Rep. Keith English is not a true resident of his House district.  This is the latest in the Siam-English wars.

Subject: District 68 State Representative Keith English – Questionable Residency

To: efey@stlouisco.com, helpdesk@mec.mo.gov

Dear Ms. Hagan and Mr. Fey,

I would like to ask for instructions on how to verify the true residency of my District 68 State Representative Keith English, who has moved twice since he was elected and who last year married a woman who works in Jefferson City, and who owns and lives in a nice house in Jefferson City.

First he lost his house at 755 Pelican Lane to foreclosure, and then claimed to live with his daughters at 470 South Castello in Florissant.

When his daughter moved, he escorted his 84-year-old former neighbor to City Hall to have himself and his wife on the occupancy at 745 Pelican Lane! I have a hard time believing that Mrs. English, who owns a nice home in Jefferson City, where she works full-time, would really want to live in an 84-year-old man's basement and commute to Jefferson City…

Thank you for any assistance or guidelines that you can provide to help us verify that Keith English actually lives in the 68th District.

Sincerely,

Tommy Siam, Councilman Ward 9, City of Florissant

Ed Again

Somewhere around 1AM EST things got ugly on Twitter with Ed Martin.  It’s hard to tell what set off the initial explosion. See it here.

‏@EagleEdMartin: Keep it classy, Gregg. Everybody is wrong but the pocket squares.

@RGreggKeller: Go fuck yourself Ed. How's that for sanctimony?

‏@EagleEdMartin: Save sanctimony 4 someone who doesn't know the game, Gregg. Danny is covering for @jeffroe implosion. #distractbySJW

@RGreggKeller: Dude. Apologize and step away from the keyboard.

‏@EagleEdMartin: Sorry for your loss. I did not single out any one Dem. You support many ... they're destroying our nation.

@dpfeife: My Dad was murdered. I support the man who prosecuted his killers.  You are sick if you think that's "pay to play."

‏@EagleEdMartin: You back Dems and want to destroy the GOP too, so leave the truth to us not pay to play.

@dpfeife: @EagleEdMartin how hasn't Phyllis taken your Twitter away?

New Committees

Clean Missouri, a political action committee, was formed.  Its treasurer is Kayla Scrivner, and its deputy treasurer is Sean Soendker Nicholson.

eMailbag on House 99

You didn't update the analysis of district 99 to reflect that Jean Evans now has a big lead in cash on hand (almost 2x what Nicholas Gerth has), thanks to $10k from David Humphreys and $5k from Rep. Shamed Dogan. Dogan ran in part of the 99th in 2008 and surely has more name ID in the district than Caleb Jones. Evans is also reported to be catching up on whatever door knocking advantage Phil Oehlerking had from starting early, and has an impressive network of Republican women backing her against 3 male opponents.
