Hahn Proposes In the Air

MO Optometric Association’s Jay Hahn fakes an in-flight engine failure with his girlfriend, Kayla Crider, from Senate Research, to make a memorable engagement after a “protracted (7 years)” courtship.  See the video here.

Crosstabs in MOScout Weekly Poll

See the MOScout County Executive poll’s crosstabs here.  In the neck-and-neck poll, Democrat Steve Stenger still is the favorite as there are more undecided voters among his strongholds: Democrats, African Americans.  When they decide (like by this time tomorrow?) more of them will break in his direction.

Weather An Issue in County Exec Race?

It’s not a perfect storm, but a rainy day tomorrow might depress turnout and help the candidate whose supporters are most passionate.  From StlToday, tomorrow’s St. Louis forecast: “High 56F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall around a half an inch…”

Push Poll in Senate 24?

One voter in Senate 24 received a live poll asking if knowing that Rep. Jill Schupp was easy on sexual predators would make them less likely to vote for Schupp.  Then got another live poll, same question a few days later….

Grow Missouri’s “Creepy” Mailer Used Elsewhere

According to Twitter, the idea of using peer pressure to increase voter turnout is being used elsewhere in the country.  See it here.

Calzone’s Fists Shake

Ron Calzone, leader of the Missouri First organization, isn’t just angry at Floor Leader John Diehl, he’s also upset with the way Speaker Tim Jones handled the gun bill.  See his disgust here.

Access Missouri

One observer cheers Access Missouri, if a little worried it’s too good for its own survival….

AccessMissouri.org is a site launched by Mizzou public radio station KBIA. With a few clicks you get public records, lists and pie charts tracking Missouri legislative campaign contributions and voting records - including how often the lawmakers votes with his or her party. On its face, that’s better than the Missouri Ethics Commission site because it incorporates voting, attendance and party loyalty.

“KBIA’s new news director, Ryan Famuliner, is a sharp guy with a great nose for news. If this project is well-tended and protected it will be a public service. Protected from what? Legislative outrage, which may be vented to the University of Missouri and the Department of Higher Education for enabling the project. But lawmakers cannot be seen to complain about the new shards of harsh light on their business…”

WSJ Poll: Republican Edge

But this is not 2010 Republican wave type year… “Republicans hold a narrow edge on the question of which party likely voters want to control Congress, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll finds, signaling that the GOP heads into Tuesday’s balloting with a breeze, but not a strong wind, at its back.”  See it here.

English Complaint Dismissed

The ethics complaint against Rep. Keith English was dismissed.  See the letter here.
