October Quarters
In the Special Reports section, find a handy spreadsheet that has the October quarters for every contested race. See it here. It shows the candidates’ cash on-hand, amount raised and spent, and any debt.
Sinquefield Gives Big
Rex Sinquefield came in big with two contributions yesterday. First, he gave $750,000 to Catherine Hanaway’s gubernatorial ambitions. The Hanaway press release crowed that she’d raised $1.2 million for her campaign, failing to note that $900K of that is the result of a single donor. Hanaway hasn’t shown the ability to raise from other sources, and one wonders if the Republican rank-and-file will rebel from the single source funding.
Sinquefield’s other big contribution was to Sen. Kurt Schaefer, running for attorney general in 2016.
Sinquefield – who gave $250K to Sen. Eric Schmitt last quarter – may be defining the entire Republican 2016 slate by the time he’s done…
Schweich Advisor Freaks Out
The email that had everyone buzzing yesterday was the reaction from Team Schweich to the Sinquefield contribution to Hanaway. While the near hysterical tone was lampooned, there are some valid point here…
** For Immediate Release
** Statement from Nathan Adams, Advisor
** JEFFERSON CITY, MO – "Catherine Hanaway reported today one of the worst financial quarters for a major party Governor candidate in Missouri political history. Her candidacy was in complete free fall. She was then bailed out the same day by Rex Sinquefield to the tune of $750,000. He also bailed her out during the first quarter of 2013 with a $50,000 contribution. She is now dependent on one man and his self-described "political army". Tom has not decided on his own political future beyond 2014 but this much is clear: under no circumstances should Hanaway be the nominee of the Republican Party for Governor in 2016. And under no circumstances will we sit idly by while one person -- who has already had his cronies sue the Auditor's office more than 10 times -- appears to be attempting to buy Missouri government."

eMailbag on The Freakout
“It is ironic that Tom Schweich is complaining about Rex Sinquefield supporting Catherine Hanaway as his entire political career was based/backed by Ambassador Sam Fox. Can we say pot meet kettle?”
Meanwhile, Koster Chugs Along
The presumptive Democratic gubernatorial nominee Chris Koster picked up another $514K this quarter bringing this total cash in the bank to $2.6 million.
Blunt to Blunt
Former Governor Matt Blunt terminated his campaign committee at long last, sending the left-overs of his cash, to Missourians for Responsible and Better Government.
The treasurer for that PAC is Andy Blunt.
Ferguson Bits
Rep. Stephen Webber talks about Ferguson and potential solutions. Read it here.
Better Together issued a report showing the various St. Louis County municipalities that are using their courts are profit-centers. See the report here. “Desperate to maintain their income stream in the face of dwindling property values, many muni's turned to the municipal courts for revenue.”
