Rusch Takes Reins at EmpowerMO

Empower Missouri announced their new executive director.  See it here.

After a year-long search, we are so excited to welcome Mallory Rusch to the Empower Missouri Team as our Executive Director. She will succeed Jeanette Mott Oxford, who served as Executive Director for eight years before transitioning to the Director of Policy & Advocacy role in January 2020.  JMO departed the organization in December 2020. We are so grateful for her many years of service and leadership.

With more than a decade of experience advocating for social justice, Rusch has the talent and dedication to lead the charge in helping Empower Missouri secure basic human needs and equal justice for all Missourians.

Suntrup on Greitens

Galloway Named Rodel Fellow

See the press release here: The Rodel Public Leadership Fellowship seeks to enhance our democracy by identifying and bringing together the nation’s most promising political leaders from across the political spectrum to explore, through study and conversation, the underlying values and principles of American democracy and the responsibilities of public leadership… On December 28, 2020, the Aspen Institute announced the new Class of 2020 for its Rodel Public Leadership Fellowship.  The 24 “rising stars” from both political parties were selected from hundreds of nominees based on their reputations for intellect, commitment to civility, and potential for significant future impact on American public life… Members of the 2020 class include: Nevada State Assemblywoman Teresa Benitez-Thompson; Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson; Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron; North Carolina State Senator Jay Chaudhuri; Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida Lenny Curry; North Carolina Labor Commissioner Josh Dobson; Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman; and Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway.

Another Reader on Bush’s Gambit

Agree that despite how we feel about her in MO, Nancy Pelosi is no Bay Area lib which is why she's an incredibly effective Speaker…. Cori Bush is clearly going to be a member of the "Squad", an AOC ally, Bernie supporter. She won't be able to lead on any legislation for some time, but that's nothing new for STL City. Lacy Clay MAILED IT IN for years. That seat, and the City, has been underrepresented… At least we've got a Congresswoman who gets national press now, whose voice is heard. State-level folks may not care about that (also nothing new), but the City should…
