And here’s two interesting maps from Twitter’s Missouri Mapper…

6. “In 1944, Missouri voters rejected a Constitutional Amendment to create a unicameral legislature by a margin of 401,900 (52.4%) to 364,791 (47.6%). Opposition was strongest in rural areas, which feared losing influence in Jefferson City.”

7. “In 2020, the U.S. census recorded that Missouri had a population of 6,154,913. While this figure was the highest for the state and many counties within the state, most counties in the state reached their peak population in a previous decade.”

8. Fewer strikes from organized labor.

9. State filibusters.  “Rules matter, but they're not the only thing that determines the filibuster,” Caroline Joseph, RepresentUs research analyst, told Axios. States with the most similar rules to the U.S. Senate do not have significant problems with the lawmakers filibustering. On the other hand, Missouri only requires a majority to end debate — but has some of the most frequent filibusters of any state.
