Fitz Does Tucker
Missed this last week… State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick made an appearance on conservative pundit Tucker Carlson’s show to bemoan a proposal for banks to report transactions greater than $600. See it here.
Fitz get off a Biden family zinger that cracks up Carlson.
100 PAC
Some folks are keeping an eye on the 100 PAC. It’s a Jim Lembke / Bill Eigel PAC. Two folks who have caused a late night (early morning) or two in the Senate, and part of the sable-rattling Conservative Caucus.
The October report showed $37,550 raised; $28,308 spent, and $57,889 on-hand. The numbers aren’t big enough to elicit a great deal of concern now. But I think there’s wariness ahead of the 2022 cycle, that Republican senatorial primaries could involve big fights again.
· Franklin County’s Brown vs Griesheimer showdown seems to be one such hotspot.
· Southwest Missouri could get interesting with Burlison and Moon leaving their posts for a congressional run.
· However, in other places, like St. Charles, everyone running in that primary is pretty far right.
FYI
Lembke and Tim Jones are handling the fundraising according to the committee’s expenditures.
· Lembke’s Liberty Ink LLC - $4,500
· Elevation Strategies LLC - $8,250
Bruce’s $100K Claim
Soon after announcing her candidacy for Congress, Kalena Bruce sent out a press release touting a quick groundswell of support.
“Kalena Bruce (R-Stockton), a conservative cattle rancher and CPA, joined the race for Congress in Missouri's 4th District on August 18. As of Friday August 27, she has raised more than $100,000. The impressive start demonstrates the level of support for Bruce, a conservative outsider who embodies the rural values of the 4th District. ‘I am truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we have received as we begin this campaign to clean up Congress,’ Bruce said. ‘The support we've received from Missourians proves that folks are ready for a conservative outsider, not another career politician. And we're just getting started.’”
With the filing of her quarterly report, it’s now obvious it was a less than “impressive start.”
In fact, according to that filing, Bruce hadn’t raised $100K when she sent that press release. Bruce only recorded $18,000 by August 28, and only $24,000 by August 30 when the press release was sent. Even assuming all the unitemized contributions were within this time frame the total amount would just have been $33,000.
Perhaps she was counting the $80,000 she was planning to loan her campaign? Still, that loan wasn’t recorded on the FEC filing until September 30.
Legal 2022 Adds $$$
The $60,000 of new checks (below) is just the latest infusion of cash into the Legal Missouri 2022 campaign account.
This is the vehicle to support the initiative petition to transform Missouri’s medical marijuana policy into legalization. See the petition here.
Since the beginning of the year there’s been $300,000 in large donations into the campaign, most of the checks from MMJ companies.
About $80,000 has been this month, after the deadline for the last quarterly filing which showed $64,000 cash on-hand. That report also lists expenditures for what appears to be the core consultant team: Marc Ellinger and Brad Ketcher on legal side, John Payne and Jac Cardetti on the operational and management side.
Thompson for Prosecutor
In the large contributions (below) Zachary Thompson plunks down $150K into his campaign committee. Thompson is running for Clay County Prosecutor; he’s currently a prosecutor in the office.
· From the ground: Longtime incumbent not running for re-election. Zach is trying to clear the field but haven’t heard that anyone else is interested in running.
New Committees
Jason Growe formed a candidate committee (Friends of Jason Growe) to run for Clayton District School Board. It’s an April election.
