MOScout Daily Update: Ozark Mayor Offers Treatment Plan - Gregory's Police Support - American Dream FB Ad - Kunce Afghan Op/Ed and more...

We’ll start with the insanity…

The mayor of the Lake Ozark posted on Facebook his determination to administer Ivermectin to his friend suffering from COVID.  KC Star writes, “The U.S. Food and Drug Administration does approve some uses of ivermectin for humans. Ivermectin tablets are approved at very specific doses for some parasitic worms, and there are topical formulations for head lice and skin conditions. It is often available at livestock stores, however, but, in those cases, is measured in doses with the expectation that the drug will be administered to animals.”

Newberry became mayor earlier this year as a write-in candidate after a crazy race in which incumbent, Gerry Murawskiadmitted to paying for a prostitute in Columbia while he was an elected Lake Ozark Alderman in 2015. The FBI says the girl was 16, though Murawski says he thought she was 19 or 20….”

So all you yapping at how ridiculous St. Louis politics is sometimes…

Gregory’s Police Support

Auditor candidate David Gregory’s PAC – Show Me Growth PAC – recorded a large contribution of $10K from the St. Louis County Police Association.

Maybe more important than money though is the endorsement from the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police Gregory announced earlier this month.  “He stands up to politicians who want to defund the police.”

This race will come down to money and message, and the police endorsement will help with the message part.

American Dream FB Ads

American Dream PAC, the pro-Mike Kehoe PAC, running Facebook ads right now.  See it here.

The ad attacks Biden… “Biden's new tax plan would raise taxes, lower wages, and increase prices. Meanwhile, it would give major cash handouts to liberal special interest groups. Add your name here if you agree that we need to OPPOSE the Biden Tax Hikes…”

That’s not unusual, but running ads three years before an election is.

Perhaps it’s a long-term campaign from the PAC to gather contact information of potential supporters. But it’s not clear how effective that will be since the PAC can’t coordinate with the candidate campaign.

Kunce Afghan Op/Ed

Lucas Kunce’s op/ed on Afghanistan – calling the whole campaign a lie – has gone viral n Twitter, racking up over a million impressions.

See the op/ed here“For 20 years, politicians, elites and D.C. military leaders lied to us about Afghanistan… The truth is that the Afghan National Security Forces was a jobs program for Afghans, propped up by U.S. taxpayer dollars — a military jobs program populated by nonmilitary people or ‘paper’ forces (that didn’t really exist) and a bevy of elites grabbing what they could when they could…”

It’s been linked to by pundits across the spectrum

·         Glenn Greenwald

·         Ann Coulter

·         Jake Tapper

·         George Conway

·         Faiz Shakir (Bernie Campaign Manager)

·         MSNBC (On With Lawrence O'Donnell for The Last Word)

Kunce is running for US Senate as a Democrat.  His campaign has been aggressive in social media as they build-out their online fundraising.
Meanwhile

Kunce’s primary opponent, Scott Sifton, is running a much more traditional campaign.  For example, here’s his twitter-feed from yesterday.

eMailbag

·         Prediction: by January 1, 2022 you will not be able to work for a Fortune 500 company without being vaccinated.

·         Perhaps the pessimism stems from incessant talk of government mandates shoved down our throats.

·         The really disturbing result to me was the confidence in our institutions……..Forget the differences by party, that I can understand.  What is incredible to me is the low confidence in these critical institutions especially the numbers on the US Supreme Court, News (both televised and print), the Medical System, Religion, the Criminal Justice System…  Hard to have a successful and just society with confidence levels reflected in the poll.  Could even make an optimist like me get discouraged about the future.
