Sample of Comments
· Plocher’s moderation and propensity to people pleasing, lends itself to deal making similar to his predecessor, Diehl.
· I am not sure we have ever seen a speaker like Plocher.
· I don’t get the sense he has any real policy goals. Which can actually be a benefit.
· If the Speaker Elect puts a lid on “crazy” then we will have something close to J. Diehl, but that’s gonna take a bold stance.
· I put Diehl but I think it will be a mix of Richard and Diehl. I think he's going to be very pro-business. That being said he will be dealing with a different senate than either Richard or Diehl. A more difficult senate in my opinion. He will have to navigate that on behalf of his members priorities which will call for some clever deal making and positioning and I think he's capable of doing that. I think that is where he will shine.
· Dean is a deal maker, he will always want an agreement. Will have more drama than Richardson just because of the makeup of is caucus.
Who Won the Week?
Senate Dems – The Senate Veto Session was the fulfillment of Democratic hopes and dreams for next session. Their best hope is for Republicans to sabotage themselves with infighting.
Dean Plocher – As expected, Plocher won unanimous approval from his colleagues to become speaker of the House in 2023.
Tracy McCreery – With a host committee that runs on for pages, she’s the favorite to replace Jill Schupp in the Senate 2022.
Greg Razer – His poignant point of personal privilege during Veto Session session predicted that someday there would be a LGBT history exhibit back in the capitol – and that this episode would be memorialized in it. It’s not an unlikely scenario.

eMailbag: Remington/MOScout Poll
The recent Remington poll, or Jeff Roe poll, putting Eric Schmitt in front of Greitens by one point in the Senate primary, so “he’s taken the lead,” is in question since Roe is doing Schmitt’s political work. Mark me, the person who fares worst in this either excellent political tactic or severe transgression of duty, depending on your point of view is NOT Eric Greitens who I expect was the target so Schmitt could out fundraise him. Rather it is Scott Sifton, who is holding his ground and has more of a fighting chance against Greitens, which regardless of Roe’s poll, he may well still get.
