MOScout Daily Update: Fundraising Rundown
Yesterday all campaigns and PACs had to report their fundraising numbers for the past three months. With the primary elections now less than ten months away, these numbers are becoming much more important.
Governor’s Race
Jay Ashcroft raised $ 208,283; spent $ 97,702; and has $636,486 on-hand, with $2,372 in debt.
· Committee for Liberty PAC: $1,609,676 COH
Bill Eigel raised $370,662; spent $89,003; and has $524,677 on-hand.
· BILL PAC: $892,527 COH
Mike Kehoe raised $514,199; spent $169,798; and has $1,415,725 on-hand with $28,024 in debt.
· American Dream PAC: $3,571,653 COH
Crystal Quade raised $268,317; spent $105,619; and has $215,176 on-hand.
· Crystal PAC: $53,197 COH
What It Means: Kehoe extended his leads in the money race. Both his candidate committee and his PAC had more than his Republican rivals and his potential Democratic opponent COMBINED. He’s now at about $5 million total cash on-hand.
Other Statewide Races
Lieutenant Governor
Dean Plocher raised $46,244; spent $24,210; and $518,731 on-hand.
· Missouri United PAC: $759,262 COH
Holly Thompson Rehder raised $97,445; spent $23,438; and has $241,369 on-hand.
· Southern Drawl PAC: $161,581 COH
Tim Baker raised $0; spent $0; has $0 on-hand.
What It Means: Thompson Rehder outraised Plocher but still trail significantly. She needs to keep narrowing the gap in the coming quarters or face being outgunned in August.
Attorney General
Andrew Bailey raised $122,058; spent $63,194; and has $462,860 on-hand.
· Liberty and Justice PAC: $871,787 COH
Will Scharf raised $70,781; spent $76,185; and has $885,639 on-hand.
· Defend Missouri PAC: $533,791
Elad Gross raised $23,346; spent $7,809; and has $ 48,742 on-hand, with $644 in debt.
Sarah Unsicker raised $6,640; spent $11,333; and has $7,403 on-hand. With $3,096 in debt.
What It Means: Scharf maintained a cash on-hand lead with the candidate committees, but the sense – which grows with every Leonard Leo profile I read – is that these numbers maybe irrelevant when outside third-parties come rushing into this race next year.
Secretary of State
Denny Hoskins raised $34,414; spent $31,994; and has $111,113 on-hand.
· Old Drum Conservative PAC: $141,716 COH
Shane Schoeller raised $47,879; spent $29,105; and has $53,213 on-hand.
Safe Elections PAC: $3,459 COH
Caleb Rowden raised $16,200; spent $10,104; and has $ 112,937 on-hand.
· Missouri Forward PAC: $152,171 COH
Adam Schwadron raised $9,550; spent $1,484; and has $10,344 on-hand.
· Squadron PAC: $428 COH
What It Means: Rowden and Hoskins remain even in money. But Rowden is said to have some big commitment which will become visible when he enters the race in the coming weeks. Next quarter could show some movement in these number.
Treasurer
Vivek Malek raised $113,681; spent $107,890; and has $704,307 on-hand with $200,000 in debt.
· American Promise PAC: $1,245,543
Cody Smith raised $68,340; spent $12,662; and has $284,573on-hand.
· Ozark Gateway Leadership PAC: $135,382
Andrew Koenig raised $45,235; spent $10,661; and has $100,188 on-hand.
· Freedom’s Promise PAC: $76,652
What It Means: Malek has continued to build his war-chest. Smith and Koenig need to start showing some serious numbers. Simply relying on your opponent “having a funny name” is not a going to win a statewide race. I think.
GOP Senate Races
Senate 3
Folks say that Sen. Elaine Gannon back in -after rumors had her not running for re-election. Her number don’t suggest any great urgency. Hewkin initially couched his campaign as one in case Gannon didn’t run, but he seems to be in for the long haul.
Elaine Gannon raised $17,650 spent; $3,011; and has $20,448 on-hand.
John Hewkin raised $ 6,725; spent $6,222; and has $11,524 on-hand with $2,500 in debt.
Senate 21
Gregory took the lead in the money race in this district. But the gap is not so wide yet to be the determinant of the outcome. Like Senate 3 above, this is one to watch.
Kurtis Gregory raised $90,872; spent $ 23,197; and has $200,980 on-hand.
· Wonderdog PAC: $91,607 COH.
Doug Richey raised $47,722; spent $10,020; and has $88,949 on-hand.
· Cultivating Freedom PAC: $26,217 COH
Senate 23
Christofanelli maintained his clear lead in fundraising. Schnelting will try to run to his right in the race, and Chrismer’s strategy is unclear so far.
Rich Chrismer raised $11,665; spent $1,350; and has $10,402 on-hand. $1,695 in debt
Phil Christofanelli raised $40,975; spent $8,487; and has $215,505 on-hand, with $162 in debt.
· Gladius PAC: $94,959 COH.
Adam Schnelting raised $19,524; spent $ 2,776; and has $84,347 on-hand.
Protect our Kids PAC: $10,000 COH
Senate 25
Rumors that Jeff Shawan will enter to primary Bean. If so, it may be a self-funding situation which means we won’t know until filing in February.
Jason Bean raised $25,150; spent $4,770; and has $121,223 on-hand with $27,000 in debt.
· Conservative Leadership for Southeast Missouri: Not yet filed.
Senate 27
Dinkins keeps chugging along. I expect we’ll have another candidate or two enter this race. Keep an eye on this one.
Chris Dinkins raised $157,155; spent $4,958; and has $191,932 on-hand with $100,000 in debt.
· Red Hawk PAC: $31,000 COH
Jacob Turner raised $46,141; spent $1,030; and has $48,083 with $22,001 in debt.
Senate 29
Rumors that Moon will see a primary challenge. He’s never been a big fundraiser, but his popularity with the grassroots is worth gold at the ballot box.
Mike Moon raised $5,067; spent $788; and has $55,809 on-hand, with $56 in debt.
Senate 31
This is now one of the hottest primaries. It looks like incumbent Brattin will be facing opponents with deeper pockets. And the geography split is problematic for him as well.
Rick Brattin raised $14,250; spent $2,278; and has $38,874 on-hand.
· True Patriot PAC: $7,080 COH
Dan Houx raised $30,430; spent $21,288; and has $105,471.
· H-PAC: $184,333 COH
Mike Haffner raised $12,750 spent $10,198 and has $103,338.
· CLCP PAC: $19,107 COH
Senate 33
Eslinger now has a challenger in state rep Brad Hudson. She starts with a money lead, but with Hudson running to her right, she’ll need to keep raising money.
Karla Eslinger raised $34,125; spent $23,742; and has $139,787 on-hand.
· Conservative Leadership of Ozarks PAC: $90,610
Brad Hudson raised $25,750 spent $1,407 and has $62,649 on-hand.
Battleground Senate Races
Senate 1
Beck has no announced opponent so far.
Doug Beck (D) raised $101,357; spent $10,957; and has $298,713.
· Doug PAC: $138,577 COH
Senate 11
Sauls outraised the two Republicans who will presumably spend their energy fighting each other until August. It’s a tough seat for Dems but shaping up to give them a shot at holding it.
Aaron McMullen (R) raised $33,005; spent $5,050; and has $41,754 on-hand, with $10,000 in debt.
· Independence PAC: $27,001 COH
Joe Nicola (R) raised $16,820; spent $3,075; and has $23,567 on-hand, with $5,051 in debt
· Truth and Light PAC: limited activity.

· Independence Leadership PAC: $69,581 COH
Senate 15
No big numbers from the Republican candidates. It feels like a lot of folks may be sitting on their hands in this race, taking a wait-and-see approach. Meanwhile Pereles stepped in with a nice big quarter for the Dems. This district could be in play in November.
Jim Bowlin (R) raised $18,243; spent $7,938; and has $128,444 on-hand, with $104,300 in debt.
David Gregory (R) raised $15,426; spent $21,326; and has $169,248 on-hand.

· St. Louis Conservative Leadership PAC: $ 998 COH
Joe Pereles (D) raised $236,313; spent $11,898; and has $224,515 on-hand.
· Fearless PAC: $2,500 COH
Senate 17
Nurrenbern’s opponent dropped, giving her some breathing room here. Still not a gimme as you assume the GOP will find someone to step up eventually.
Maggie Nurrenbern (D) raised $78,674; spent $7,231; and has $192,999 on-hand.
· Northland Forward PAC: $28,401 COH
Senate 19
Webber feels like a lock.
Stephen Webber raised $117,777; spent $25,547; and has $218,579 on-hand.
