MOScout Daily Update: Big $$$ Hits Campaigns - Dems Dump Unsicker - End of the Year Readers Poll and more....
Well, hello… Nice to be back. I was surprised checking my in-box yesterday how little actually happened while I was away!
The one big thing was: lots of end of the year checks. Take a look at the large contributions at the bottom.
Some notable checks…
· Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe recorded a $250,000 contribution from SNK Real Property Holdings LLC. That’s his second check from them. He received a similar check in October. SNK Real Property Holdings appears to be an entity of the Schell and Kampeter families which own Diamond Pet Food. They’re located in Meta Missouri, a small town about a half hour south of Jeff City. Kehoe’s PAC fundraising total will be comfortably above $1M raised this quarter.
· Attorney General Andrew Bailey recorded a $100,000 check from Rex and Jeanne Sinquefield. His opponent, Will Scharf, has largely gone dark on large contributions. And while $100K is nothing to sneeze at, the expectation is that Team Leonard Leo is going to be investing an exponentially higher amount in this race on Scharf’s behalf.
· Sen. Bill Eigel bundled a bunch of $20,000 checks from trial attorneys totaling $160,000. He’ll once again gain ground on Jay Ashcroft in terms of cash on-hand. His candidate committee may overtake Ashcroft’s this quarter, and his PAC will certainly narrow Ashcroft’s lead.
· Jamie Corley added $50,000 to the Missouri Women and Family Research Fund, the organization advancing the “moderate” pro-choice initiative petition. That’s workable seed money, but they need some deep pockets to make it happen.
MOScout Readers Poll
It’s that time of year. Take the MOScout Reader’s Poll here. I’ll put results in tomorrow’s update.
· Today focuses on legislators, tomorrow will focus on lobbying.
Dems Dump Unsicker
Press release from House Democratic Caucus leadership on their vote to expel Rep. Sarah Unsicker.
“The House Democratic Caucus is dedicated to the values of inclusiveness, tolerance and respect. When a member fails to uphold those standards, the caucus has a duty to act. Rep. Unsicker is free to choose her associations, but the caucus enjoys that same freedom. As a result, House Democrats today voted to end its association with Rep. Unsicker by expelling her as a caucus member.”
