Quarter’s End Coming

We’re a little over two weeks away from the end of the fundraising quarter.  With more folks declaring for the various statewide races, these reports will garner more attention.

In the large contributions today, the pro-Will Scharf PAC, Defend Missouri, lands a $50,000 check from Roger Hertog.

Those following the Mike Kehoe – Jay Ashcroft fundraising totals.  Their PACs same storyline.

Ashcroft’s Committee for Liberty has only recorded one large contribtion so far this quatrer ($12,500 from 1776 PAC), while Kehoe has had 11 large contributions totaling nearly $200,000.

Expect a flurry of checks in the final two weeks.

Dems Watching Fox News

Missouri native Eli Yokley reports on Fox News viewership – more Dems and Independents than folks would generally think.  Read his analysis here.

Dem operative Braxton Payne in a note to colleagues and clients cites the report as a warning…

·       I often hear from political candidates and democratic causes that buying airtime on Fox News isn't needed but 50% of Fox News viewers are an even split of Democrats and Independents. Skipping out on airtime on Fox News due to our own personal bias is a disservice to these democratic causes.

·       It is important to understand our audience as we head into future elections and push for democratic causes. And simply saying "I don't watch it", "my friends don't watch that", or "I know voters watch that," won't work for a targeted strategy when it comes to winning… This is not only important in national races but local races. Streaming and cable can be huge assets to all types of campaigns from education to candidates to issues… Data driven strategies earn good results.

Bank Failure’s MO Impact

State Treasurer Vivek Malek tweets that the “State of Missouri has no investment in the failed Silicon Valley Bank in California. The State Treasurer’s Office continues to monitor the situation, and Missourians should be assured that this office’s conservative policies are protecting their hard-earned tax dollars.”

But that doesn’t mean there won’t be some impact…
