MOScout Daily Update: Chrismer in Senate 23 - Keller to Lead Pro-Richey PAC - Club for Growth Coming - Kunce Gets Firefighters and more...

Keller to Run Richey PAC

On Twitter, Gregg Keller announced he’d be “leading a PAC affiliated” with Rep. Doug Richey’s state senate run. Richey is expected to run for Senate 21 where Sen. Denny Hoskins is termed.

This appears to be a new PAC, recently formed, Missouri Liberty Fund.  See the paperwork here.

·       Keller quarterbacked the pro-Mary Elizabeth Coleman PAC that helped push her over the finish-line in her tough Senate 22 race last cycle.

·       One lobbyist says it’s a “big get” for Richey: It will draw national attention to this local senate race, as well as a larger donor base focused on Ed reform.

Meanwhile

With Richey’s opponent, Rep. Kurtis Gregory also ramping up for the senate race, Melissa Chevalier has formed a committee to run for the Gregory seat (House 51).  See the paperwork here.

·       From a quick internet search, it appears she runs Summerland Flats Inn in Malta Bend, Missouri.

Chrismer in Senate 23

Rich Chrismer formed a campaign committee (Chrismer for Good Government) to run for Senate 23.

See the paperwork here.

This isn’t a huge surprise.  MOScouters will remember two months ago I flagged an ad (see it here) in the St. Charles Lincoln Days program touting Chrismer as a candidate.  That ad was paid for by Chrismer himself.

It creates a 3-way primary to replace termed Sen. Bill Eigel. Chrismer joins Reps. Phil Christofanelli and Adam Schnelting.

Chrismer is former St. Charles Elections Director.  He ran into some discrimination allegations during his tenure as director.  He’s pops to the younger Rich Chrismer, spox to the GOP stars.

·       I’ve updated the 2024 Watch to include Chrismer in Senate 23.

Club for Growth Preps Entry

Club for Growth Action - Missouri Federal Committee filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission.  Federal PACs must register a state PAC in Missouri if they’re active here.

This is the first step to seeing some Club for Growth activity in Missouri in the 2024 cycle.  It’s expected they’ll be coming in heavy for Will Scharf in the attorney general primary.

See the paperwork here.

Kunce Gets Firefighters Endorsement

Missouri State Council of Fire Fighters endorsed Lucas Kunce for U.S. Senate.  See it here.

·       Team Kunce crows: The MSCFF represents more than 7,000 firefighters, EMTs, dispatchers, and paramedics across Missouri. This marks the first statewide union endorsement for Kunce and speaks to his unique ability to earn the votes of independents and split-ticket voters. In the past, the Missouri State Council of Fire Fighters has endorsed Senators [Eric] Schmitt and [Roy] Blunt. This cycle, they have endorsed Lucas Kunce for Senate and Mike Kehoe for Governor.

Roe Hiring?

Looks like the Jeff Roe-lead DeSantis SuperPAC will be hiring…

NYTimes reports plans to swamp the early Republican presidential states.  Read it here.

·       Mr. Roe described an ambitious political apparatus whose 2,600 field organizers by the fall would be roughly double the peak of Senator Bernie Sanders’s entire 2020 primary campaign staff.

·       [A] $100 million voter-outreach push so big it plans to knock on the door of every possible DeSantis voter at least four times in New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina — and five times in the kickoff Iowa caucuses.

·       Mr. Roe also previewed some of the contrasts that Never Back Down planned to draw with Mr. Trump. He argued that Mr. Trump had shied away from key fights that motivate the Republican base and on which Mr. DeSantis has led, including on L.G.B.T.Q. issues, schools and taking on corporate America.

Deaton to MOSERS Board

Press release: State Representative Dirk Deaton, R-Noel, will help administer the retirement fund for state employees and elected officials after House Speaker Dean Plocher recently appointed him to serve on the board of trustees for the Missouri State Employees’ Retirement System…
