MOScout Weekender: Lewis Nabs Teamsters - GOP Kerfuffle - Senate 23 Poll - WWTW and more…
Lewis Nabs Teamsters Endorsement
Tipster in the nascent Senate 7 race to replace soon-departing Sen. Greg Razer…. “Patty [Lewis]is already shoring up endorsements from elected officials, and now labor is on board! All 4 Kansas City Teamsters Locals moved quickly to endorse her campaign….”
GOP Kerfuffle
A couple folks sent this video to me of Sen. Denny Hoskins chewing out Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft. It’s hard to tell what the source of the brouhaha was.

· Lots of money will be spent against Rick.
· Moon’s voting record is not conservative and his name ID is not good in the newly drawn district.
· [Brattin] won’t get credit for passing the bill, and Houx is outraising him.
· Chantelle Nickson Clark is a rockstar…
· Haffner and Brattin split the low information voter crowd.
Who Won the Week?
Kate Casas – Quarterbacked the monster education bill… and also was played linebacker and safety for Team Ed Reform.
Catalyst – Two huge victories this week as they found a resolution on the KC landfill debate and passed two education bills. Plus, their clients (DraftKings & FanDuel) announced they surpassed 300,000 signatures for the sports betting initiative.
Marlene Terry – One of three Dems to cross over and join Republicans to help the House get to 82 votes. In the process, she bonded with Senate Floor Leader Cindy O’Laughlin, a relationship which could be fruitful in the coming years.
Jon Patterson - Passed education reform by forcing the Senate to do the exact fixes he needed to pick up barely enough votes all while telling the senate I will pass your Planned Parenthood priority whenever I determine. “The first real leader the House has had since Catherine Hanaway.”
Alex Riley – Used his Leader-In-Waiting position to help seal the deal with a few reluctant members.
