MOScout Daily Update: Pro-Bailey Ad - Rizzo to Sports Authority - House Primary Coverage - Griesheimer to City EcoDevo - Tilley for Burger and more…
Pro-Bailey PAC Launches Ad
The pro-Andrew Bailey PAC has launched its first television ad. It’s a two-stepper. First, touting Bailey’s credentials to deal with “Biden’s border crisis,” and then it dings “political opportunist Will Scharf” who “worked in Biden’s corrupt Department of Justice.”
Rizzo to Sports Authority
KCStar reports that “John Rizzo, the minority leader of the Missouri Senate, was offered a contract Tuesday to become executive director of the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority…”
· “This is the job I’ve always wanted, and if we can agree on a contract I would love to be part of a team and utilize my skill set to make sure that the Chiefs and Royals are in Jackson County for another generation,” Rizzo told The Star…
· Rizzo’s employment agreement will run from July 1 until June 30, 2027… His base salary will be $150,000 with the potential for annual raises of up to 4%, along with the benefits provided other county employees.
Griesheimer to Washington City EcoDevo
Washington eMissourian reports that “Aaron Griesheimer has been named the [City of Washington’s] new economic development director, effective June 17.”
· Most recently, Griesheimer has been serving as government affairs director for the SITE Improvement Association, an independent construction contractor group representing more than 260 contractors and businesses. Before that, he served in the Missouri House of Representatives until January 2022 after first being elected in 2018.

House Primaries Coverage
I’m going to review a few House primary races each day. As I d, I’ll add them to the 2024 Watch spreadsheet…
House 1 – In his first re-election campaign, Rep. Jeff Farnan (see his bio here) faces Michelle Horner (Facebook, Twitter). Horner ran against Farnan in 2022, and those results should give Farnan confidence. He took 47% in the 5-way primary, and Horner placed last with a mere 5.7%. As you might expect, Horner is running a right-side primary. But Farnan already has more cash on-hand ($10,649) than Horner raised during her entire 2022 campaign ($9,264, most of which was a loan). Farnan is safe.
House 15 – This is Rep. Maggie Nurrenbern’s district (Clay County). She’s running for state senate (Sem. Lauren Arthur’s seat). Two Democrats are vying to replace her. Greg Smith (see his website here) is an auto worker with backing from organized labor. He faces Ken Jamison (see his website here). He’s an attorney who served a tour in Afghanistan as a Marine. With a $40K loan to himself, Jamison leads cash on-hand ($38,619 to Smith’s $3,207) and should be considered the favorite.
House 19 – Rep. Ingrid Brunett is term limited. One of the folks attempting to succeed her is Wick Thomas (see their website here; Wick uses ‘they’ pronoun) who primaried Burnett in 2022 and ran very well, taking 41% of the vote against the incumbent. The other candidate is Patricia Ann Geronima Hernandez (see her website here). She’s committeewoman on the 12th Ward of the Jackson County Democratic Committee. Thomas COH: $5,983; Hernandez COH: $2,385.
House 25 – This is Rep. Patty Lewis’ Kansas City district. She hopped out when Greg Razer was surprisingly appointed to the Tax Commission. So this primary race between Pattie Mansur and Ben Schloegel came together quickly. Mansur (see bio here) is Communications and Health Policy Director at REACH Healthcare Foundation who has served on KC School Board. Schloegel (LinkedIn here) is a firefighter can works at Community CareLink. Obviously this race is evolving, but my gut would be that Mansur is the favorite.
