MOScout Weekender: Dinkins Ad - Guv Race Gets Tight - Hallway on Chiefs - WWTW and more…

Dinkins Releases First Ad

Rep. Chris Dinkins, running in the Republican Senate 27 primary, is out with her first TV ad.  She’s the first candidate in this race to go on the air.

In it, Dinkins addresses the camera wearing flannel and sporting a sidearm, and talks about immigration.  “Thanks to Biden’s failures, every state is a border state.  Now the enemies who hate us aren’t just trying to invade our nation, they’re already here.  It’s time to fight back.  I sponsored the strongest anti-illegal immigration law in the nation to protect our state and our families from drugs and violent criminals… If the politicians in Washington won’t protect our nation, I will.”

Meanwhile

One of her primary opponents, Rep. Jamie Burger, announced that he’s received the endorsement of the Missouri Cattlemen Association.

Sample of Comments

·       The costs to build new in KS are exponentially higher than renovating an existing, iconic stadium in Arrowhead, with existing infrastructure. Plus the stadium holds sentimental value to the Hunts and the fans.

·       The Governor and MOLeg leadership will rally to keep the Chiefs at Arrowhead and the Royals on the Missouri side - albeit in North Kansas City in Clay County.

·       Extremely worried. Canary in the coal mine situation.

·       The Chiefs will go where the money takes them.

·       If I was betting, I would put money on the Chiefs staying in Missouri. That said, nothing excites billionaires like having multiple states competing against each other to hand out incentives.

·       The Royals should be the ones pushing to get to KS. Get the incentives, build a new stadium along with a desired entertainment district. ATL is the model. The Braves moved out of ATL, 10 miles down the road, and now generates >$50M in revenue from retail/real estate alone.

·       For the Chiefs, it does not matter on which side of the state line the they are located. The Missouri legislature needs to take this very seriously.

·       Don't we see this with every big construction project, where these businesses want to leverage their home state

Who Won the Week?

Mike Kehoe – Another nice week for Kehoe with two polls showing him within the margin of error of long-time favorite Jay Ashcroft.

Vivek Malek – Tastes a bit of the sweetness of schadenfreude as Rep. Scott Cupps, who dinged Malek for not showing up for a committee hearing during session, loses a court case for failing to show up.

Andrew Bailey – Team Bailey cheered a poll from the Club for Growth which showed he’s maintained his lead in the AG’s race.  And that tying Will Scharf to the Biden DOJ is a particularly effective line of attack.

Chiefs – The object of Kansas’ covetousness.
