Special MOScout Update: Senate GOPers PQ Dems

The Senate Republicans employed “the PQ,” a rarely-used motion, to cut off debate on HJR 73 and bring it to a vote.

HJR 73 is the resolution which would send the abortion issue back to the voters in 2026.

A second PQ is expected to on HB 567 which would reverse the voter-approved provision mandating employer sick leave.

Hallway sources said that Governor Mike Kehoe had been working to broker a “global deal,” which would involved HJR 73, HB 567 and the stadium subsidy.  In that scheme, the Freedom Caucus would have asked to sit down on the stadium, and they’d get Dems to sit on HJR 73 and HB 567.  Dems would get the ballot candy (involving transgender car, and Kehoe would issue an executive order to ally GOP trans care concern).  I’m told pro-life Republicans were concerned the resolution would be harder to pass without that language.

Dems vowed to shut down the Senate in retaliation for the PQ.
