Quick Friday update…

Moon Sues Stadium Bill

Sen. Mike Moon and Rep. Bryant Wolfin filed a lawsuit challenging the special session stadium bill as unconstitutional.  See the suit here.

·       They assert five ways that the bill is unconstitutional: Grant of public money to private persons, Special law, Multiple subjects, Title not clear, and Change of original purpose.

What It Means

We’ll it’s impossible to predict how the courts will rule, I didn’t hear anyone panicking yesterday that this suit would derail the special session product.

And

Freedom Caucus cheers.

More on Page Indictment

A few folks disagreed with my assessment that St. Louis County Executive Sam Page might well beat his rap in court…

·       Democratic-leaning lawyer: I think you are wrong about Sam Page, he crossed the line, will be found guilty and removed from office.

·       Republican-leaning lawyer: Politically, looks like Page is finished.  He only has 100K COH… Legally, I believe he has a tough case.   He should reimburse the county now and argue he is not required to do so but is doing so anyway.    Bet he will likely plead to a misdemeanor.

Willert Kicks Off in Senate 34
