MOScout Daily Update: HRCC Offer $$$ For GOTV Texts - Haug Registers - Hough Endorses Fogle and more…

HRCC Offers $$$ For GOTV Help

The House Republican Campaign Committee says you (yes, you!) can earn money by texting your friends to remind them to vote.  See the campaign here.

You can earn $3 for each unique voter you text in your contacts, up to $500 (only one text per contact is eligible for payment). After you send one or more texts, click “Get Paid” in the Numinar app. You will be asked to upload a screenshot from a randomly selected and time-stamped conversation for purposes of reviewing your payment request. After your payment is approved, you will receive an email with a link to redeem your earnings via a prepaid Visa card, any of 1,000+ gift card options, Paypal, Venmo, or bank transfer.

What It Means

In a year where Republican enthusiasm seems to be lacking, HRCC is getting creative to try to get their people to the polls.

Haug Registers

Former Budget Director Dan Haug has registered to lobby.  His first clients are Preferred Family Healthcare, Burrell Behavioral Health, and Supported Living and Employment Services, Inc.  Haug was a trusted voice before the House Budget and Senate Appropriations committees as budget director. That means he not only knows the numbers, but he also knows the lawmakers who will make the critical decisions.

·       His first clients – behavioral health and disability providers – have plenty at stake in this tight budget year.

More Fitz Ads

Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick’s campaign is launching a six-figure streaming buy in the KC, STL, and Springfield markets. The campaign begins this week with his ad "9 Days" (see the ad here) that discusses his achievements as both the state treasurer and state auditor.

Nine days. That's how long it took me to return the first million dollars to Missourians as your state treasurer. Now, as state auditor, I'm the one asking for receipts. We caught a sheriff taking more than $200,000 from his own county. Then, a county overtaxing its own citizens by millions of dollars. That money is going back in their pockets. I've released over 375 reports, shining a light in the places bureaucrats would rather keep dark. They're spending your money. I'm the one making sure they bring the receipts.

A3 Ad War

Stop the Ban has placed $11.8 million in broadcast, cable and radio advertising this election cycle, giving anti-Amendment 3 forces a roughly 3-to-1 advantage. Meanwhile, supporters – Her Health, Her Future, Vote Yes on Amendment 3, and Excelsior PAC – have placed a combined $3.8 million. Those totals exclude streaming advertising.

Senate Races Update

Senate 8 – A new Keri Ingle ad features a nurse explaining her support: One of my favorite things about Keri is that she truly listens to people. She’s not waiting to be heard.  But she wants to hear you and understand to try to help you. She supports health care policy that increases access for Missourians across our state. So, Keri has my vote.

Senate 30 – The Springfield Daily Citizen reports on Republican Sen. Lincoln Hough endorsing Democratic Rep. Betsy Fogle to be his successor.  Hough gave $2,400 to Fogle. “She’s shown me that she’ll stand up and do the right thing, whether it’s advantageous to her or not, and I can tell you, as someone who does that also, sometimes it’s not a really easy place to be.” If elected, Hough said Fogle would be the “smartest elected person left in that building when it comes to the budget.”

House Races Update

House 17 – Rep. Bill Allen’s latest ad (see it here) says “Bill will!”  Who will stand up for hard-working families and union workers? Bill will.  Who will fight tax hikes? Bill will.  Who will protect our public schools? Bill will. Who will be counting on your vote? Bill will.

House 96 – Democrat Matt Vitale seeks to weaponize J&J Ventures campaign contributions to Rep. Brad Christ.  See it here.  “A vote for Brad Christ is a vote for slot machines in our neighborhoods. An Illinois gambling company just handed Brad Christ’s PAC $50,000. They want slot machines in the gas station where our kids grab a snack after school. On the blocks where we’re raising our families.”

House 101 – Rep. Ben Keathley says “gas prices are too high. That's why I'm announcing in the upcoming session that I'm going to be filing legislation to suspend the gas tax increases from 2021. We can do better, and government does not need to be a cause for price anxiety.”

House 110 – Democrat Claire Heinrich posts that she “spoke to one of the largest crowds I have seen at IAFF Local 2665… I support these heroes and all First Responders including my contributors from the St. Louis County Police Association… You've seen my opponent post a video which describes these heroic service members as having their hand in your pocket.  You could not possibly be more disrespectful than that as a public official - one of many reasons he deserves to be defeated.”

MSHP Sued for Crash Redactions

The Missouri Press Association has sued the Missouri State Highway Patrol for knowingly violating the Sunshine Law with its redactions on crash reports.  See the suit here.

Under the Sunshine Law, MSHP was required to provide Plaintiffs with the requested Crash Reports without redactions, and to make Crash Reports with full information available online… MSHP knowingly violated the Sunshine Law in that it had actual knowledge that its conduct violated the Sunshine Law. Indeed, before 2024, it acknowledged on its website that “[a]ll information on crash reports is considered an ‘open record’ and cannot be withheld from the public.”

Gregory Touts Rangers As Answer to School Shootings

On Twitter, Sen. David Gregory says a recent school shooting in Oregon is “precisely why we created a new police force for schools, the MISSOURI RANGERS, comprised of extremely well trained community members.”

·       Gregory’s SB 905 was signed into law last summer by Governor Mike Kehoe.

Licklider Honored

Veteran lobbyist Sam Licklider was honored by the Realtors for 58 years of service.  See the tribute video with an interview here.

·       What motivates him: People rely on me to make sure that they don’t get hurt by the government.

·       On wearing bowties: I was in Neiman’s… I was looking at ties, and I like Hermes, but the doggone things had gone up $200 a pop.  And I thought that was a trifle expensive.  So the [sales] guy said, Hermes bowties are only $150.  So, I started wearing bowties.

·       On what he hopes people remember about his work: I did the best job I could, and worked every day to make it better. And I had a lot of fun doing it.

Congratulations to

Cole and Mazzie Christensen on the birth of their son, Boyd Pierson Christensen.
