MOScout Weekender: The Trump Card in CD-6 - Hallway Split on Kehoe Tax Plan Outlook - Who Won the Week and more…
The Trump Card in CD-6
Nathan Willett posted a compilation of clips of his CD-6 rival, Chris Stigall, talking down the candidacy of Donald Trump. Willett crowed he’s “proud to be the ONLY pro-Trump candidate and conservative fighter for North Missouri in this race.”
The post was reposted by former Trump campaign manager Chris LaCivita, who’s had a running feud with Stigall consultant Jeff Roe.

Sample of Comments
· Rex has spent MILLIONS on candidates and initiatives. He always engages enough to get the idea out there….and then it falls flat. Same with this.
· Proponents of the tax cut lost the messaging battle but still have a good chance of passing this because Kehoe has a way of getting things done.
· There’s a chance but it’s slim.
· Without any changes passage seems guaranteed.
· It will pass the legislature. Will not pass the ballot. Raising sales taxes some unknown amount on unknown items and promising some future legislature will make it all okay. It won’t pass, but lots of people will get paid a bunch of money to try. This is Missouri.
· Big IF this gets through the Senate it will fail at the ballot box
· PQ or Dems sit down. 2. Ballot language is very favorable. 3. Opposition money needs to approach potential avalanche of Rex + Koch money. 4. Missourians want more money in their pockets. This isn’t property tax votes, which has disparate interests and strong opposition with weak organized support. This is a litmus test for Kehoe in 2028.
· Pass legislature and get beat
Who Won the Week?
Data center opponents – The quick electoral losses in Festus against councilmembers who supported a data center there may reverberate across other municipalities.
Ryan Gerster – Brenda Shields’ exit from Senate 34 leaves Gerster as the sole candidate from Buchanan County.
Casinos – AG Catherine Hanaway’s enforcement campaign against gray machines brings the largest operator to heel.
Joelle Cannon – Returning to the United States Senate, she’ll be working for Senator Ron Johnson, Chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
