What It Means
It’s rather remarkable that Veit’s campaign is so sure of A5’s unpopularity in this REPUBLICAN primary that they’re focusing an ad entirely on an opponent’s position on it.
Senate 18: Lewis PAC’s Final Anti-Blue Drop
Rural Missouri Values PAC (pro-Ed Lewis) yesterday reported a 24-hour expenditure opposing rival Dusty Blue. It was a $150,000 media buy. See it here.
· Blue is getting heavily outspent. It’s going to be a close race. But I do wonder how much late expenditures move the needle in races where the voters have been inundated already with ads and mailers.
CD-5: Webber for Burks
Sen. Stephen Webberposted on Twitter that Sen. Rick Brattin“has been one of the biggest anti-trans, pro-gun nut legislators in Jefferson City,” and encouraged “Columbia Republicans to send Brattin a message that Boone County won’t be divided-by pulling a ballot for Taylor Burkes [sic] for congress in the primary… MAYBE Taylor will at least try to bring federal dollars to MU.”

AIM Report: A5 Benefits Unproven
Associated Industries of Missouri released a study that claims the implementation of Amendment 5, shifting away from income tax to a sales tax, wouldn’t grow the state’s economic pie.
· Elimination of the individual income tax if enacted without a corresponding increase in another tax may be beneficial to a state’s GDP.
· But when coupled with an increase in sales and use taxes that burdens consumption, one of the factors used to calculate GDP, there does not appear to be evidence of a net increase in a state’s competitiveness or GDP.
