MOScout Daily Update: Purple PAC - New Schupp Ad - Debate Day - More Dem Winners - Green STL and more...

Purple PAC

In Senate 15, the pro-Deb Lavender PAC, Purple PAC is getting active.  See the Purple PAC website is here

·         And a 30-sec spot here that focuses on gun laws.

Purple PAC reported $59K cash on-hand in its July report, and has since recorded $110K+ in large contributions.

New Schupp Ad

The Jill Schupp campaign released their latest ad.  See it here.  It features older voters, masked, telling a camera crew why they’re supporting Schupp instead of Congresswoman Ann Wagner.  It’s incredibly simple, yet surprisingly effective.

Driving the Day: Gov’s Debate

The postponed gubernatorial debate will take place today at 2PM.  Stream it here on KMOU.  But with four candidates – the Green and Libertarian parties will be represented – it’s harder for the two major party candidates to engage each other as easily.  Probably the best either campaign hopes for is a clip that can be repurposed into a catchy web ad.

More Dem Winners

Yesterday I presented a list of MO Dem “winners” in the event that Joe Biden won the White House.  Here are a few more…

Tom Carnahan – Unlike his more public siblings Robin and Russ, Tom has never sought elective office, choosing to operate behind-the-scenes. He's spent the last decade focused on investments in the renewable energy space, which would be primed for increased R & D funding in a Biden administration.

Amy and Kevin Gunn – A St. Louis power couple, Amy Gunn is on the executive committee of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, while Kevin Gunn is treasurer of Nicole Galloway’s IE PAC, Keep Government Accountable.  Kevin previously served on the Public Service Commission, and decades ago as Richard Gephardt’s chief of staff.  Both are very active in Missouri Democratic politics.

Jason Kander – Did anyone in the country host more primary candidates than Kander, who gave tour after tour of his Veterans Community Project homestead in KC? And yet Kander never tipped his hand, preserving the relationships he'd established in 2016 and beyond, and giving himself as good a shot as anyone not named Buttigieg at the top Veterans Administration job in a Biden administration.

STL Green Deal?

Yesterday, St. Louis received recognition as one of the nations most improved cities for energy efficiency. In a radio interview later on Thursday Mayor Lyda Krewson boldly announced that her administration had more work to do, next up, electric vehicle readiness legislation. If passed by the Board of Alderman, this would support adoption of clean electric vehicles in the region more quickly. It's a type of 'make ready' proactive move ahead of the next wave of electric car technology, which is forecast to hit the streets in the next 24-36 months. This on the heels of Ameren Missouri's (the state's largest energy provider who serves all of St. Louis City) net carbon zero by 2050 announcement, is St. Louis in Green New Deal range?

New Committees

DAGA People's Lawyer Project Missouri.  It’s an independent expenditure PAC for the Democratic AG candidate Rich Finneran. Its treasurer is David Woodruff.

Lobbyists Registrations

John Cozad deleted Gate Way Group.
