MOScout’s Hallway Index: CD-4

I asked lobbyists, “With Rowden out, who's the favorite to win the 4th Congressional Republican primary?”   The hallway isn’t impressed with the current roster, choosing “someone else” as their top pick and as-yet undeclared Rick Brattin second.  Apparently, there’s plenty of folks believing that the field is still unsettled. 21 replies…

RESULTS

1. Mark Alford… 9.5%

2. Rick Bratton… 28.6%

3. Kalena Bruce… 4.7%

4. Taylor Burks… 0%

5. Sara Walsh…4.7%

6. Someone else… 52.4%

Sample of Comments

·         If he gets in, Kurt Schaefer.

·         Presently, a remarkably weak field. Surely someone else w/ more money and gravitas will enter the fray.

·         What an unmitigated disaster! Missouri is a laughing stock. My answer is you cares! Seriously going from the likes of Kit Bond, Roy Blunt, and a couple of okay Congresspeople to nothing. It’s as though Missourians want to be irrelevant and guarantee we don’t get our share. By the way I put the D’s in the same category #Cori Bush.

·         Brattin the gentleman, hard worker and only says what he believes, not a quality all possess.

·         I picked Brattin. I don’t know if he’s the favorite, but if it was a bet I think I’d like my odds here.

·         Vicky Hartzler gets back in her seat.

·         Name ID is expensive to build in the KC market and it will come at no cost to a long time local tv anchor. Alford will have more conservative street cred than folks realize.

·         Mike Haffner

·         Kalena is the only farmer I’m aware of, and she has strong credentials as a CPA who worked on Trump tax cuts.

Who Won the Week?

Tishaura Jones – Nabs an invite to the BIF signing in DC.

Caleb Rowden – Withstands the pressure to hop into a congressional race, instead making a decision that works best for his life.

Billy Long – “The hit of the weekend” at the RJC conference, according to a MOScout tipster.

Eric Burlison – Makes it onto 60 Minutes defending his SAPA legislation.  That’s huge free press for someone running for congress as a staunch conservative.
