Rumorville: Hill to Resign

Rumors are that Rep. Justin Hill is planning to resign and take a job on the private side – side to be in another state.  We’ll see.  But the move would be one more shake-up of the evolving state senate races.

Hill had loaned his campaign committee $100,000 ahead of a primary for the St. Charles senate district where Sen. Bob Onder is term limited.  His exit will make that race (at least for now) a head-to-head match between Reps. Nick Schroer and John Wiemann.

Martin Subpoenaed

Ed Martin was subpoenaed by the January 6 Committee.  See it here.  Martin had served in numerous political capacities in Missouri (chairman of the St. Louis Board of Election Commissioners, chief of staff to Governor Matt Blunt, Chair of the Missouri Republican Party, nominee for Attorney General) before leaving the state and taking the reins of Phyllis Schlafly’s group amid some legal wrangling.

Who Won the Week?

MO Workers – $$$. The governor offers a pay plan increase for state workers; the minimum wage is set to be hiked next month; and the MHTC is asking a Cole County judge to let them use the State Road Fund for employee raises.

Vicky Hartzler – Greitens’ flip-flop on SAPA makes me wonder if at the end of the day Hartzler will emerge as the one genuine conservative in the US Senate race.

Rich Chrismer – His successful communications strategy on behalf of a not-for-profit in Webster Groves under threat of eminent domain was critical to stopping a development proposal.

Ed Martin – A January 6 Committee subpoena, when played correctly, is probably just one more fundraising opportunity.
