Kidd on House Process

Rep. Bill Kidd, in the Special Committee on Public Policy Thursday morning, let loose as he presented HJR 81, a property tax phase-out for folks who have paid off their mortgage.

·         He starts off with… “As we all know this bill is deader than a doornail, isn’t it? And what we’re doing today is make everybody get up at 8 o’clock in the morning to be at this committee, but only three weeks left.  You must be a very busy committee… because this bill was referred to this committee on January 27th.  So, you must be a very busy committee.  Took you three months to hear it… I am disgusted.  I’m disgusted with the whole process.”

·         Later: When I started this six years ago and I ran into these same kind of roadblocks every year. Either the chairman don’t like the bill or somebody don’t like the bill, or the floor leader doesn’t like the bill or the speaker doesn’t like the bill.  Because that’s how it works around here if you hadn’t figure it out.   You don’t have representation.  So by the way, if you have a bill that other people don’t like, they’ll kill your bill…”

·         In between, he cuts a dollar bill which I think is actually a crime.

Sample of Comments

·         Schatz would be the best. Which is possibly why he doesn’t stand much of a chance.

·         If Eric Schmitt was the same or similar Schmitt who served in the state senate I would say him…but Schatz is the best pro-business, level headed leader who would be most like statesmen Roy Blunt and Kit Bond.

·         [Kunce] Without question the best on policy and ability to relate to common problems of Missourians. If he was pro life he would win.

·         If Schmitt can find his way back to being a moderate, his disposition and background are best suited to succeed in US Senate.

·         [Schatz] Self-made, normal, relatable, kind.

·         Lincoln Hough if he was running would be the best.

·         Picking [Valentine] because I think the rest are terrible.

·         Greitens is insane but seeing him fight the Litec industry and Hawley may be the best thing for the state.

·         I chose Eric Schmitt with the hope that he's sunk to his lowest level to appease the R base and will get back to his more level-headed self if elected.
