MOScout Daily Update: Parson Vetoes Cody Cash - Ag Bill Veto Today? - New Bruce Ad - Kunce Endorsements and more...
Gov Announces Budget Line Item Vetoes
Governor Mike Parson signed the budget bills and vetoed specific line items within the bills. Go to this page to view each bill, and read his veto letters.
While I’m sure there will be grumbling on several items (St. Charles, for example, will shake a fist that the funding for another associate circuit judge was vetoed), it’s often hard to muster an override vote against a governor of your own party.
The headline news, though, came from Parson’s line item vetoes of the ARPA funds. See the list here. The biggest of these was his veto of the so-called “Cody Cash” $500 rebate. See the Missouri Independent article here.

Driving the Day
Governor Mike Parson will hold a press conference at 2PM “to discuss his actions on remaining legislative items.” In other words, he’ll talk about vetoes of what he’s not signing.
The big-ticket item folks are assuming gets vetoed is the agriculture omnibus bill. And, because, Parson is not anti-Ag, folks think we could get a special session.
[All together now]: We’ll see….
Kunce’s Latest Endorsements
Lucas Kunce’s latest round of endorsements show that his team is still pounding the pavement gathering up local endorsements. Biggest names from the latest round: St. Louis County Councilwoman Rita Heard Days, former Sen. Wes Shoemyer, and Moveon.org.
Others in the latest batch: Shalonda Webb, Terry Wilson, Fannie Lou Hamer Coalition, Southland Progress, Lewis & Clark Township Democrats, Northwest Township Democrats, Norwood Township Democrats, Raytown Democrats, Spanish Lake Democrats, St. Louis 4th Ward Democrats, and Ferguson Township Democrats.
And
Interesting that FiveThirtyEight’s “best guess” at who will the US Senate nominees in Missouri is Eric Greitens and Lucas Kunce. See it here.
My gut – which has about 50-50 accuracy – thinks Greitens will fade and Valentine’s money will overwhelm Kunce, so we’ll see…
Bruce’s New Ad: BS
In CD-4 Kalena Bruce’s latest ad shows her cleaning her house and around her farm, and says she’s ready to clean up Washington. See it here.
I spend a LOT time cleaning up other people’s messes… I can’t wait to start cleaning up the mess Pelosi and the squad have made of Congress, because if there’s one thing I know how to handle… it’s BS.

· If Danforth really wanted to have an impact, he'd invest in moderate Republicans running for lower offices and build a bench. He could start with Dogan for CE, but he could also find some other candidates running for State Rep or State Senate. This is a complete waste of time and resources.
· The Danforth ad is running on broadcast & cable in KC area, and Busch Valentine's ads are running frequently. Looks like it will be a good year for the TV stations and cable systems!
