Boyd to Scripted Healthcare

Former Rep. Casey Guernsey announced on LinkedIn that Rep. Mazzie Boyd has joined his firm, Scripted Healthcare.

Mazzie will be my organization's Business Manager and will be involved in managing the in-home program as well as billing insurance for consumers needing medical equipment. I believe Mazzie’s work ethic and character is exactly the right fit for our organization as we strive to provide abundant hospitality to anyone needing access to both medical equipment and their ability to stay in their own home… Representative Boyd will work in Northwest Missouri to develop new partners and networks to expand program services. We see people go without necessary medical equipment because the cost is frequently prohibitive. Scripted Healthcare’s Accessibility Medical Equipment division is one of a kind Medicare-certified organization, as nobody else runs a recycling program in the entire region…

Missouri Mapper: Senate 15

In lieu of the Weekly Poll this week, I have a report from the Missouri Mapper about Senate 15.  See the full report (and maps) here.

In the race for US Senate, SD 15 was the closest seat in the class of Senate districts that will be up for election in 2024. Eric Schmitt carried SD15, which comprises most of western St. Louis County by 1,491 votes (1.8%). Incumbent Republican Senator Andrew Koenig is term limited. The redistricting process made SD 15 more Republican (under old lines SD 15 narrowly voted for Biden, while the new lines have SD 15 voting for Trump by a few points) with SD15 notably losing the strongly Democratic suburb of Kirkwood and gaining the strongly Republican suburb of Wildwood. While Republicans have historically had down ballot strength in this affluent suburban district, it is well within the realm of possibility that one or more Democrats on the top of the ticket will carry SD 15 in 2024.

MOScout’s Hallway Index: On Next House Floor Leader

I asked lobbyists, “Who will be House Floor Leader in January 2025?” 29 replies…

RESULTS

1. Jamie Burger… 20.7%

2. Alex Riley… 55.2%

3. Someone else… 24.1%

Sample of Comments

·       I think it is Riley’s if he wants it

·       Burger will probably run for Senate once Holly decides to run statewide. Even if he doesn't, Alex Riley will be Floor Leader.

·       Riley is the front runner and general respect among his colleagues.

·       Both would do a good job, Burger has slight edge with more experience

·       I hear Dave Evans is running as well.

·       Not sure how many years you've been doing the Hallway Index, but this is the easiest question you've ever asked.

·       House caucus is unpredictable. I’ll take the field.
