MOScout Daily Update: January Fundraising Quarters - What They Mean, What to Watch
Today is just a fundraising run-down. Back to the regular programming tomorrow…
Governor’s Race
Republicans…
Jay Ashcroft raised $106,197; spent $128,696; and has $613,987 on-hand.
· Committee for Liberty PAC: $1,621,203 COH
Bill Eigel raised $329,107; spent $150,604; and has $703,180 on-hand.
· BILL PAC: $932,210 COH
Mike Kehoe raised $259,811; spent $213,200; and has $1,462,336 on-hand with $40,003 in debt.
· American Dream PAC: $4,324,156 COH
Democrats…
Crystal Quade raised $208,151; spent $175,721; and has $247,606 on-hand.
· Crystal PAC: $58,196 COH
Mike Hamra raised $760,160; spent $89,118; and has $671,041 on-hand, with $299,542 in debt.
Sarah Unsicker raised $8,710; spent $15,052; and has $2,211 on-hand. With $500 in debt.
What To Watch: We enter the final six months of this primary with Kehoe in a commanding position in terms of resources. Can Team Kehoe produce sharp messages to both puncture the goodwill associated with the Ashcroft last name, and also defend him against RINO charges?
On the Dem side, Hamra’s big quarter is big, but will he quickly put more of his own money in to ensure he can effectively reach across the state?
Other Statewide Races
Lieutenant Governor
Dean Plocher raised $44,287; spent $21,009; and $542,008 on-hand.
· Missouri United PAC: hasn’t filed its January report yet.
Holly Thompson Rehder raised $71,121; spent $45,320; and has $267,170 on-hand.
· Southern Drawl PAC: $238,434 COH
Bob Onder raised $566,420; spent $4,334; and has $575,474 on-hand with $500,000 in debt.
· Great Missouri PAC: $518,075 COH
Tim Baker filed a Limited Activity report.
Paul Berry hasn’t filed his January report yet.
Democrat Richard Brown raised $546; spent $537; and has $5,259 on-hand with $5,685 in debt.
What To Watch: Thompson Rehder outraised Plocher again, almost a given because of his troubles. But how much farther can she narrow that gap before August? And is Onder in or pivoting to 3-CD?
Attorney General
Andrew Bailey raised $141,536; spent $73,582; and has $530,813 on-hand.
· Liberty and Justice PAC: $1,219,500 COH
Will Scharf raised $50,272; spent $89,064; and has $846,847 on-hand.
· Defend Missouri PAC: $533,791 COH
Elad Gross raised $23,276; spent $12,512; and has $59,506 on-hand, with $914 in debt.
What To Watch: Really only one question here. How much Leonard Leo & Co is waiting in the wings to rush into this race? The guess is that it’s A LOT, but we’ll see.
Secretary of State
Denny Hoskins raised $29,500; spent $23,997; and has $116,615 on-hand.
· Old Drum Conservative PAC: $151,859 COH
Shane Schoeller raised $23,889; spent $30,117; and has $46,984 on-hand.
· Safe Elections PAC: $8,041 COH
Caleb Rowden raised $71,575; spent $9,604; and has $177,732 on-hand.
· Missouri Forward PAC: $234,617 COH
Adam Schwadron raised $86,560; spent $4,001; and has $92,902 on-hand, and $75,000 in debt.
· Squadron PAC: Limited Activity
· Missouri Values PAC: $10,980 COH
Valentina Gomez raised $1,600; spent $10; and has $1,590 on-hand.
What To Watch: Team Rowden had talked up big money commitments last year. Will those checks show up and allow Rowden to rise above the scrum, or is this a dogfight with everyone grabbing their 15% of the state and fighting to win with 30-something in a splintered field?
Treasurer
Vivek Malek raised $584,159; spent $55,311; and has $1,233,154 on-hand with $700,000 in debt.
· American Promise PAC: $1,235,740 COH
Cody Smith raised $59,250; spent $12,714; and has $331,108 on-hand.
· Ozark Gateway Leadership PAC: $150,542 COH
Andrew Koenig raised $19,377; spent $7,751; and has $110,813 on-hand.
· Freedom’s Promise PAC: $71,480 COH
Lori Rook raised $537,043; spent $20,093; and has $516,950 on-hand, with $500,000 in debt.
Democrat Lucas Johnson raised $0; spent $176; and has $933 on-hand.
What To Watch: Malek has done everything right, from raising money to working his butt off across the state. The question we’re afraid to have answered: What’s the “funny name” tax in a GOP primary?
GOP Senate Races
Senate 3
Sen. Elaine Gannon ultimately decided not to run for re-election throwing this open. Henderson is considered the favorite, but a possible Courtway entry is very intriguing. Hewkin could be a factor for sure – if he raises some cash.
John Hewkin raised $8,950; spent $1,141; and has $19,332 on-hand with $2,500 in debt.
· RX for MO PAC: Limited Activity report.

· Missouri Matters PAC: $35,198 COH
Senate 21
Gregory has the money lead, and is a favorite in the building. But Richey is running Freedom Caucus rightside which is the usual path to a primary victory.

· Wonderdog PAC: $135,708 COH.

· Cultivating Freedom PAC: $27,442 COH
Senate 23
Very similar (almost down to the dollar amounts) to Senate 21. Christofanelli maintained his fundraising advantage. But Schnelting, like Richey, will run to his right, and could be very effective.

Phil Christofanelli raised $46,534; spent $14,883; and has $247,156 on-hand, with $162 in debt.

· Conservative Leadership for Southeast Missouri: $128,018 COH
Senate 27
Hell of a race ahead. Dinkins is backed by school reformers. Turner likely gets some Freedom Caucus love. And Burger has deep roots in the district. Could we see even another candidate?
Chris Dinkins raised $20,546; spent $11,260; and has $201,217 on-hand with $100,000 in debt.

Mike Moon raised $3,791; spent $2,634; and has $56,966 on-hand, with $55 in debt.
Senate 31
Houx is the best funded here. However early polling showed Brattin with considerable name ID. Still a lot of folks think Haffner will cut into Brattin’s base and open the door for Houx. We’ll see.
Rick Brattin raised $29,474; spent $13,852; and has $54,496 on-hand.
· True Patriot PAC: $17,429 COH

· CLCP PAC: $37,513 COH
Senate 33
Eslinger heading to DESE, and Rep. Travis Smith bowed out, so Hudson looks like the clear favorite.
Brad Hudson raised $34,160; spent $1,658; and has $95,151 on-hand with $5,000 in debt.
· Brad PAC: formed after deadline.
Battleground Senate Races

· Doug PAC: $385,529 COH
Senate 11
McMullen won this fundraising round. But Sauls is still hanging in there with more on-hand in his candidate committee and PAC – and no primary to worry about.
Aaron McMullen (R) raised $45,700; spent $9,006; and has $74,747 on-hand, with $6,300 in debt.

· Independence Leadership PAC: $89,216 COH
Senate 15
Lackluster numbers from the Republican candidates. Yet Democrat Pereles hit six figures again. I’m starting to think this will be interesting come November.
Jim Bowlin (R) raised $12,035; spent $8,509; and has $131,970 on-hand.
· Conservatives for Accountability PAC: $100 COH

· Northland Forward PAC: $82,451 COH

Webber just keeps putting up big numbers. His candidate committee outraised Jay Ashcroft’s, and many other statewide candidates.
