MOScout Daily Update: 2nd Pro-Nurrenbern Ad - Money Watch - Trump’s DOJ - Osage Casino Campaign - SW Conservative PAC and more…

Situational awareness: Jimmy Carter turns 100 today.  Vice-presidential candidates J.D. Vance and Tim Walz debate tonight (8PM CST).

Southwest Conservative PAC Fights A3

A new PAC, Southwest Conservative PAC, is putting some resources behind the anti-A3 campaign. The PAC was started last month.  Not much is known about it, though it did receive a $25,000 contribution from Missouri Leadership PAC last week.   See their filing here.

Dems See Close Senate 15

Dems say that their internal polling on Senate 15 “shows an extremely close race (within the 3% margin of error). Joe [Pereles] is doing really well with Independents, keeping all Democrats, and syphoning off a good percentage of self-identified Republicans. There is deep canvassing going on in the district to help Amendment 3 and that is viewed as an additional boost to Pereles… We know it will be a tough race, but the campaign is putting in the work.”

Second Pro-Nurrenbern Ad

Northland Forward, the pro-Maggie Nurrenbern PAC, has a second ad in rotation running at the same pace as our first ad at the same time. This one goes after opponent Jerry Nolte’s record on reproductive freedom.

See it here.

Politician Jerry Notle voted to lower the minimum wage, and then he gave big corporations a tax break while being wined and dined by their lobbyists

And Jerry Nolte cost taxpayers over three hundred and fifty thousand dollars because of his inappropriate behavior.

Now Jerry wants to be your State Senator to restrict access to birth control and control your healthcare decisions…

Money Watch

Lots of big checks with the quarterly end.  Among yesterday’s list (see below)…

·       Another $100K to Mike Kehoe from the PAC which is pushing for state control of the St. Louis police force.

·       $100K from Herzog to the House Republican Campaign Committee.  HRCC already has a huge money advantage over their Democratic counterpart.

·       Dems adding money into their target senate races.  The pro-Rizzo PAC backing the pro-Sauls PAC; the pro-Beck PAC helping the pro-Nurrenbern PAC.

Yes on 5 Touts Union Jobs

The Yes for 5 campaign, which would add a new casino at Osage Lake, is making the case that the project would add union jobs, though one MOScouter notes that the flyer itself lacks a union bug…

Also

It appears that the incumbent casinos are sitting this one out.  I had expected that they fight it, not being excited about a 14th casino in Missouri.  But it seems that they’ve made the calculation that the geographic location wouldn’t detract impact their businesses much.

·       Likewise, aside from Caeser’s we haven’t seen casinos put money into opposing the sports betting amendment.

Royals Chiefs Negotiations Continue

KSHB reports that negotiations continue at the local level with both the Chiefs and Royals.

Governor Mike Parson is quoted. "I think the heart and soul of the Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs are here in Kansas City," Parson said. "I think that's where they want to be; we just have to find a solution on how we get them here."

Trump DOJ Shake-Up

A Wall Street Journal article from last week about Donald Trump’s plans to “shake-up” the Department of Justice mentions both US Senator Eric Schmitt, and Missouri AG Andrew Bailey.

He is determined to remake it in ways that excite firebrands in his base—by replacing career employees with loyalists, by ordering investigations into those who have prosecuted him and by enlisting the Justice Department on the conservative side of the latest culture wars…

Trump and his allies have been considering candidates for attorney general who share his expansive view of presidential authority and would be more willing to do the White House’s bidding… Among those under consideration to lead the department in a second Trump term are… Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri, a former state attorney general … Trump is also fond of some state attorneys general, including Andrew Bailey of Missouri…

·       One readers wonders if the “the net effect of spending $16M against Bailey was simply to raise his national profile.”
