MOScout Daily Update: 8-Day Report Rundown - NCAAP Condemns House 12 Text - Latest HRCC Forays - Engemann to Bailey and more…
Breaking last night… Donald Trump JR endorses the sports betting question on Twitter. Amendment 2 sounds like a no brainer to me. Smarter than forcing people to bring their money out of state or pushing them into the black market!
8-Day Reports
Here’s a rundown of the 8-Day Before Election campaign finance reports. These cover activity from October 1 – October 24 (last Thursday). That means they’re a pretty accurate financial snapshot.
At this point in the campaign, my focus is how much has been spent to reach voters, and how much is left to make a final pitch.
In the statewide races, the Republican candidates’ reports showed similarly to their October reports – a much-reduced intensity. They appear (excepting the governor’s race where Kehoe has spent millions) content to coast to November wins. Dems out-spent their GOP counterparts in the LG and SOS races.

Senate Battleground Races
Across the hot battle-ground races of Senate 11, 15, and 17, Democratic candidates have out-spent their Republican opponents. But allso, critical to the spending picture in these races are the third-parties as noted in the next section.
Right now, I’d give Nurrenbern the edge in Senate 17. With Senate 11 and 15 being toss-ups.
Senate 1
Robert Crump spent $13,727 ; and has $3,066 on-hand.
Doug Beck spent $406,568 and has $172,622 on-hand.

Senate 17: Nolte Talks Tragedy
Here’s the latest Jerry Nolte commercial, in which he speaks about violence impacting his family. See it here.
It’s easy to fool yourself into believing that violence is only something that happens to other people. That’s just an illusion. In 2004 my younger brother was murdered, and our family was devastated. It took nearly a decade, but we kept fighting until his killer was brought to justice. I’ve stood with law enforcement to restore funding cuts, defend victims and crack down on crime. I’ll keep fighting until no family is Shattered by violence again…
House 12: NAACP Condemns Jones Text Ad
Press release: The Missouri NAACP, expresses deep concern over recent campaign-related negative text messages in Missouri House District 12 to local voters in the Park Hill School District area. The message uses coded racial language, an awful form of dog-whistle politics, to stoke fear and division within the community based on race.
The text message asking people to vote for Mike Jones— is a deliberate throwback to the desegregation era, when similar tactics promoted segregation. The message itself is full of lies. Rep. [Jamie] Johnson (like all state representatives) has no authority within the local school district to make decisions. This is a racist dog whistle designed to dredge up unfounded fears in white populations…
Engemann to Bailey
Press release: Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced that Dan Engemann is joining his office to serve as Director of Policy and Outreach. In this role, Engemann will manage the office’s policy, legislation, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
