MOScout Daily Update: SBA MIA? - Kunce: It’s Close - Gregory Plans Show Confidence - Frisella Shunned and more…

SBA MIA?

One MOScouter watching the Amendment 3 (pro-choice IP) is surprised at the financial mismatch, noting that anti-abortion groups have raised more money in fighting these proposals elsewhere. “Why is Missouri so far behind?”

In particular Susan B. Anthony “dropped $20 million to defeat Ohio’s abortion amendment.”

I’ve noted last week that the pro-A3 group has raised over $9 million since the primary election in August.  Here are the pro-life totals in that period:

·       Missouri Right to Life PAC: $250,181

·       Vote "NO" on 3: $125,000

Gregory Plans JCity House?

David Gregory appears to be very confident that he will hold Senate 15 for Republicans in November.

According to a post in the Historic City of Jefferson Facebook group, Gregory is planning to construct “a temporary residence for the Gregorys when they are in Jefferson City.”

The group – I believe historic preservationist – is upset with the plan.  “Not only does this plan demolish the current historic home and replace it with a structure that is out of character for E. Capital, it ignores local citizens and developers that are currently invested in the area, or the local developers that proposed to restore the current structure.”

See the post here.

·       Gregory faces Democrat Joe Pereles in November.

Kunce: It’s Close

Team Kunce released an internal poll showing that Lucas Kunce is “only four points behind incumbent Republican Senator Josh Hawley.”

See the release here.

·       Also of interest: the poll also shows Amendment 3 (pro-choice) leading 56% to 30%, with 14% undecided.

The Year of the Connected TV

CNBC reports on presidential political ad spends for this year.  Network has suffered the greatest decrease, and digital is down too.  The new category is “connected TV,” i.e. streaming.

·       “The Kamala Harris campaign said it’s reserved $200 million worth of ad space across connected TV and streaming platforms, like Hulu, Roku and Pandora.”

Frisella Shunned

Post-Dispatch reports on local police “cutting ties” with fitness entrepreneur Andy FrisellaRead it here.

Police here are cutting ties with a wealthy fitness mogul after an obscenity-filled podcast rant in which he said women should not be cops and that men could “end their (expletive) life” if the female officers weren’t armed with guns and badges.  Andy Frisella, a St. Louis native and police donor who has found immense success in the fitness industry, voiced those opinions in an episode of his “Real AF” podcast…

·       Frisella has had numerous Missouri politicians on his podcast over the years – including Andrew Bailey – but is best known in political circles for contributing $1 million to Eric Greitens’ PAC in the US Senate primary.

eMailbag: Weed Driving MO Tax Reciepts?

I looked at your chart of goods vs services this morning.  I wonder if legal marijuana is now in the goods bucket.  Part of the recent Missouri sales tax growth was the legalization of marijuana and the taxing of those sales.

New Committees

·       Committee to Ensure a Future for Sheriffs & Prosecutors was formed to support the passage of Amendment 6 on the November ballot. Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to provide that the administration of justice shall include the levying of costs and fees to support salaries and benefits for certain current and former law enforcement personnel?

·       Hamra for Missouri converted to a debt service committee.  According to his last filing, the committee had over $2.1 million in debt from his unsuccessful gubernatorial run.
