MOScout Daily Update: Flock Automating Cops’ Jobs - Messaging in Senate 8 - Nurse PAC Endorsements - MEM Ad and more…
Quick Friday update…
Flock Automating Cops’ Jobs?
On Twitter, Governor Mike Kehoe posted about Flock cameras: Our executive order is the first step in creating safeguards against abuse of ALPR data, while still understanding that these systems have proven to be an incredibly effective crime-fighting tool at a time when many law enforcement agencies are experiencing very significant officer shortages.
It’s an interesting point. And one lobbyist believes it’s a big point: Since there really is no long term-term plan for the increased cost of proper policing we will just put a camera up everywhere. Future police forces will be much smaller as we adopt (have forced upon us) this more of this type of surveillance tech. The sooner the police unions wise up to this the better. Flock is bad for cops.

Messaging in Senate 8
On Facebook…
JP talks Flock cameras: We have to have a discussion on whether these things should be legal or not. But at the very least I think the first thing we can do is to make sure the information that they capture is just as protected as you have at your hospital or your doctor’s office. Nobody’s sitting at home right now thinking their private data is going to get out. That’s because there are fines and penalties in place. And we need to have those. If any of this data is breached, we can start there.
Keri Ingle talks affordability: This past weekend I knocked on doors that I knocked on in 2018. Voters… who invited me into their homes, and sat me down on their couches and told me then, and now, that they’re scared: scared of the pharmacy bill, the electric bill, the grocery bill. Eight years later that fear hasn’t gone away, and it’s only gotten worse… some people see a budget line or an amendment vote, I see those couches. That’s who I fight for in Jefferson City and why I’m running for Senate.
Murphy Ad
In House 94, Maryellen Murphy’s ad (see it here) says that she’s “ready to serve on Day One.”
For forty years South County has been my home. I raised my family here, and I served the community. I know what matters to this community: safe neighborhoods, strong schools and affordable living. In Jefferson City I’ll support our police, fight for lower taxes, protect parental rights, and bring common sense to government. I am ready to serve on Day One.
More on Bailey
After the news of former AG Andrew Bailey’s FBI resignation broke earlier this week, I noted he had $555,000 in his PAC – adding fuel to the rumors he might re-engage in the Missouri pollical arena.
One reader also points out that, in terminating his candidate committee, Bailey sent $185,000 to a 501(c)(4), Missouri Law Enforcement Foundation. One lobbyist wonders if Bailey “hopes it may come back someday” to a future campaign.
