MOScout Daily Update: Ashcroft PAC Launches Attack Ad - Scharf PAC Nabs $2M - Williams PAC to be NorthCo Player - Senate 23 Memo and more…

Ashcroft PAC Attack Ad

Committee for Liberty, the pro-Jay Ashcroft PAC, has released its first ad.  It goes right after Mike Kehoe.   The ad, entitled Old Joe and Mike Kehoe, starts with a picture of President Joe Biden which then morphs into Kehoe’s face as a narrator compares their policies.

“Record tax hikes. Supporting cop haters. Selling out to Chinese Communist. It’s not just Old Joe, it’s Mike Kehoe.  Kehoe wrote the largest tax hike in State history, gave campaign cash to a cop-hating liberal, and voted four times to sell Missouri’s Farmland to China.  Just say no to Old Joe and Mike Kehoe.  Jay Ashcraft the only Right to Life-endorsed real conservative for governor.”

See it here.

·       Going right on the attack with your first ad is unusual, but Team Ashcroft probably feels that Ashcroft is a known commodity, and being out-gunned on resources, it’s important they try to land some punches.

$2M More for Scharf

The Concord Fund, which is part of a network of organizations associated with Leonard Leo, a co-chair of the Federalist Society, that are funded mostly by anonymous donors, deposited $2 million into the Club for Growth committee backing the candidacy of Will Scharf.

·       The infusion provides a fresh round of ammo for the pro-Scharf PAC with six weeks left before the AG primary.

Williams PAC to Play in North STL County

I’m told that STLCO PAC, which was formed last week, is connected to Sen. Brian Williams.  And, interestingly, that it’s a vehicle for Williams to “support quality, good Government candidates running for office in North St. Louis County.”

·       Look for the PAC to show $100K in contributions by week’s end.

Senate 23: Victory Memo

A memo from Victory Enterprises says that Rep. Phil Christofanelli has taken the lead in the Senate 23 Republican primary.  See the memo here.

Victory conducted the survey on behalf of the pro-Christofanelli PAC, Gladius PAC.  It found Christofanelli leading with 15% to Rich Chrismer’s 9%, and Rep. Adam Schnelting’s 9%.

“This survey was conducted before any paid media was deployed by the Gladius PAC on behalf of Rep. Christofanelli. We expect as much as $1 million to be spent in support of Rep. Christofanelli between now and the August Primary, including a full mail, radio and digital campaign from Gladius PAC and other supporters of Christofanelli.”

Other Ads Hitting the Airwaves

·       Sen. Bill Eigel released his first TV ad.  See it here.   It’s exactly the ad you’d expect.  It’s combative, and touches on hot-button issues like gender identity and illegal immigration.  The tag-line: Fight Washington. Save Missouri.

·       And Mike Hamra released his ad.  It’s a minute-long bio piece with testimonials from many of his workers about what a great boss he is. See it here

House 80: Merideth Endorses Fuchs

Rep. Peter Merideth, in an email blast, said he’s supporting Lily Fuchs to be his successor.  She’s running against Ben Murray on St. Louis City’s near southside.

·       Murray, who held a large fundraising lead ($27,313 versus $6,163) as of last quarter, has been a legislative assistant in Jefferson City for the part few years.

Boebert Win = Thomas Win

Jefferson Thomas, who serves as both Lincoln PAC and Sen. Mary Elizabeth Coleman’s general consultant, got a big high-profile win in CO-04 tonight. He’s been the consultant for Congresswoman Lauren Boebert’s IE efforts since her election in 2020.

·       One MOScouter: “In a world full of big political firms, nice to see a Missouri guy work hard and get the win.”

·       Jefferson is the son of Pat Thomas, chief of staff for Lincoln Hough.
