Sample of Comments
· [Kehoe's] worked harder than any politician I’ve seen in a long time. His life story is better than both of the other two.
· My heart says Kehoe, but my head says Ashcroft.
· I think Ashcroft but it’s just so early. One thing to look forward to is going to be Trump’s endorsement of Mikejaybill.
· If Eigel stays in, Kehoe wins. Ashcroft and Eigel fighting over the same donors and constituency opens the door for Mike.
Book Banning Insanity
St. Louis Jewish Light reports that “the Anti-Defamation League, Heartland, which provides services to Southern Illinois, Missouri, and Eastern Kansas is partnering with the Jewish Community Center of St. Louis in response to some St. Louis area schools banning several Holocaust books, including Art Spiegelman’s ‘Maus.’ The partnership will establish a new lending library with ‘Maus’ and six other books about the Holocaust geared toward young readers. These books are among the hundreds of books that a handful of school districts in Missouri have reportedly removed from their shelves since the start of this school year.”
· I have no idea what is offensive about Maus.
Who Won the Week?
Doug Beck – Prevailed as the Senate Dem’s new assistant floor leader. That positions him to succeed Sen. John Rizzo as minority leader in two years.
Cindy O’Laughlin – First woman Senate majority leader. Quite a journey. When she arrived, many figured her conservatism would place her on the fringe. Now here she is as floor leader.
Jon Patterson – First non-white House Majority Floor Leader. When he arrived, many thought the doctor would struggle to fit in among the farmer-heavy House Republican Caucus. Yet here he is.
Ed reformers – They’ve got bona-fide reformers in the key House and Senate floor leader slots, and potentially Andrew Koenig taking over the Senate Education Committee.

eMailbag on Hawley and Schmitt Voting Against McConnell
First of all, definitely doesn't bode well for MO re: committee assignments and appropriations as we hope in vain that someone can fill Roy's shoes.
Second, with regard to Schmitt, only true 7-D chess players announce that they backed the loser *after* a secret ballot vote, following a week of refusing to answer.
