MOScout Weekender: MRL Endorsements? - Senate 16 Poll - $$$ to PACs - Hallway on STL Corruption - WWTW and more...
Situational Awareness: Worth keeping an eye on money flows. I’ll do my best to help, and I appreciate the tips. In the $5K+ Contributions listing today there are several candidate PACs getting larges checks: Justin Brown (running for re-election in Senate 16), Curtis Trent (running in Senate 20), Tracy McCreery (running in Senate 24), and Nate Tate (running in Senate 26).
Rumorville: MRL Endorses Senate GOP Challengers
I haven’t been able to track down the listing yet. I’m told it will be “out there” next week, but word is circulating that Missouri Right to Life has endorsed challengers to the incumbent Missouri Republican senators.
Again, I haven’t seen the list, but that would mean Sens. Mike Bernskoetter, Justin Brown, Mike Cierpiot, Sandy Crawford, Lincoln Hough, and Bill White were all denied the MRL endorsement.
If true, it’ll be interesting to see their rationale. Will they reference the 7-1 map that they pushed for early in session, or is this relating to the FRA tax two sessions ago?
· One Republican: “At some point MRL is going to prove to people that you don’t need them to win a race. We may there after this cycle…”

MOScout’s Hallway Index: STL Corruption
I asked lobbyists, “Have you been surprised by the recent indictments in St. Louis?”
RESULT
1. Yes… 12%
2. No… 88%
Sample of Comments
· "Shocked but not surprised" as my old boss would always say.
· It’s St Louis, what do you expect.
· Surprised elected officials from St. Louis accept small bribes? No. Surprised someone did something about it: a little.
· Casual text exchanges explicitly agreeing to and executing federal crimes suggests that the relatively small dollar amounts listed in indictment are merely the tip of the corrupt iceberg that is StL city.
· Surprised it happened, no. Surprised it took this long, yes.
· Water is wet.
· I will only be surprised if there aren't more.
Who Won the Week?
Steve Ehlmann – The long-time County Executive in St. Charles will serve another term after Bob Onder blinked just ahead of the deadline to withdraw.
Eric Greitens – I expect we’ll see some shuffling among the US Senate canididate during this final stretch, but for now – with seven weeks left – Greitens remains in the top spot according to every poll.
Elijah Haahr – Called a RINO by Eric Greitens this week. That’s a badge of honor among a lot of Republicans in Jefferson City who remember the scandal-ridden year and a half Greitens was governor.
Tina Shannon – The Ameren government relations executive will add her skills to the Lincoln University Board of Curators.
