MOScout Daily Update: New Ads! - Fitz Hits Gregory - Carpenters $$$ to Roorda - Rex $$$ to Fitzwater - Swan to Labor - Henderson to Soy and more...

The punches keep coming… Here are some exclusive first looks at ads in various races.

Pro-Hartzler PAC Mocks Schmitt’s Baseball Ad

Secure Our Freedom Action Fund, a pro-Vicky Hartzler PAC, is releasing a new ad which uses footage from Eric Schmitt’s “baseball ad.”  However instead of Schmitt hitting the balls, he strikes out as the ad recounts his positions on China Hub, and Chinese ownership of Missouri farm land.

Fitz Hits Gregory on Missed Votes

Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick’s new ad dings Rep. David Gregory for missed votes.  It begins by reiterating Fitz’ claim that Gregory calling himself an auditor is “a lie.”  The screen tags Gregory as a “trial attorney” while running through various votes that Gregrory missed.  And those votes are red meat issues: CRT, abortion funding, and voter ID.

Brattin: America’s Gone Soft

In his new ad, Sen. Rick Brattin says, “Let’s face it: America’s gone soft.”  He’s a man who finds the world “insane… Disney’s woke; Biden’s a joke…”

Tagline: “Some Republicans are soft… I approve this ad because I am not.”

Money Trails

I think we’re in the ninth inning of the money game.  It’s getting to the point where any money coming in will be too late to help.  Interesting nuggets in today’s large contributions…

·       Rex Sinquefield delivers a late blast for Rep. Travis Fitzwater in Senate 10.  It’s a $50K check to Fitzwater’s PAC, Kingdom Leadership.

·       The Gannons are ploughing more money – $76K – into Dennis Gannon’s re-election bid for Jefferson County Executive.  He’s being challenged by Sen. Paul Wieland.

·       The Carpenters sent $100K to Jeff Roorda’s PAC in Senate 22.  They had sent Roorda $50K earlier this month.

Where Carpenters Are Playing

Here are the state senate races where the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council Missouri-Kansas Area PAC has sent big checks this year…

·       JW Leadership Fund (John Wiemann, Senate 2) - $100,000.

·       Faith, Family & Freedom PAC (unclear where this is headed, one rumor is to help Brian Gelner in Senate 20) - $150,000.

·       JEFF PAC (Jeff Roorda, Senate 22) - $165,000

·       Missouri Conservative Alliance (Nate Tate, Senate 26) - $50,000.

Railsback Uses Federal Disclaimer

In House 2, Rep. Randy Railsback’s radio spots sound like he’s running for federal office, using that required disclaimer language: I approve this message.  State campaigns need a paid for disclaimer not an “I approve this message.” Listen to it here.

House 100: Sanders for Brunner

Yesterday Team Brunner released a video of former Trump press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders endorsing John Brunner for state representative.

“I believe our states are the last line of defense against Joe Biden and his radical left agenda… You can count on [John] to stand strong in the fight.”

See it here.

And

They punch back against the residency attack from his opponent: Keathley did not even own a home in the district at time of filing and was living in his parents’ basement until recently.

MMJ Ballot Status In Doubt

Missouri Independent reports that “whether Missouri voters will get a chance to legalize recreational marijuana in November is still in question.  The latest incomplete tabulations from Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft’s office, obtained under a Sunshine Law request, show the Legal Missouri 2022 initiative is short of the necessary signatures in four of the six Congressional districts necessary to make the ballot…”

Parson Appoints Swan To Labor Commission

Southeast Missourian reports that “former state legislator Kathy Swan of Cape Girardeau, who served eight years in Missouri's House of Representatives, is returning to state government. Swan has been appointed by Gov. Mike Parson to the state Labor and Industrial Relations Commission (LIRC).  Parson's communications director, Kelli Jones, confirmed Swan's appointment over the weekend and Swan told the Southeast Missourian she effectively took her place on the panel Saturday…”

Henderson To MOSoy

Press release: The Missouri Soybean Association (MSA) expands its policy team with the addition of Liz Henderson as the organization’s first policy coordinator. In this newly created role, Liz will work directly with the senior director of policy and chief operating officer, Casey Wasser

·       Henderson staffed for Sen. Jake Hummel, and then worked for lobbyist Brent Hemphill.

Meanwhile Down in Wayne County…

Wayne County Journal reports that “one of the candidates for Wayne County Prosecutor is facing one felony charge and two misdemeanor charges… Rocky Kingree, 38, of rural Piedmont, has been charged with the three crimes since April…”

·       Charges were filed May 18 in Stoddard County against Kingree for the felony charge of Burglary, Second Degree; this is a class D felony that could have a punishment of up to seven years in prison if convicted. The case was investigated by the Bloomfield Police and related to an April 24 burglary at Kingree’s mother’s residence…

·       Kingree, was stopped by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Wednesday, April 27, at 11:15 p.m. on a misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated charge and also cited for failure to signal…

·       The Current River Observer was the first news outlet to report the arrest in its May 5 issue. Kingree told the Journal-Banner at that time that he had not been charged with a crime. He alleged he had been targeted by authorities and was innocent.

eMailbag: MOFed Tate Ad

The ad against Nate Tate is completely incorrect saying the gas tax increased 30 cents.   It was 12.5 cents.   Maybe the Missouri Federation for Children needs to go back to school.
