First in MOScout: Hartzler Super PAC Launches Ads

Secure Our Freedom Action Fund is launching an ad today, “Tough,” in support of Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler.  The ad calls her “a proven Christian conservative,” and promises that she will “finish Trump’s wall.”

See the ad here.

·       “Vicky Hartzler is THE candidate in this race who Missourians can trust to stand up against Joe Biden’s reckless policies and socialist agenda,” said Chris Cox, President of Secure Our Freedom Action Fund…

·       This ad is being launched with a significant buy behind it, with over six figures being spent on broadcast, cable and digital media over the next two weeks. The ad will run in the Springfield and Saint Louis media markets. In addition, it will be delivered by text directly to thousands of Republican primary voters across Missouri.

And

Team Hartzler is cheering a recent Trafalgar poll which gives her a teeny lead in the race.  See it here. (MoE +/-2.9%)

Hartzler – 24%

Greitens – 23.5%

Schmitt – 22.8%

Long – 5.9%

Schatz – 4.2%

McCloskey – 3%

Props Makes the Ads?

After all the guns, Eric Schmitt offered the variety yesterday of a blowtorch.  Others are branching out also – perhaps in a bid to cut through the clutter of guns?

Sen. Eric Burlison uses a flamethrower.  See it here.

Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick uses a deep fryer.  See it here.

100 PAC Lands $100K

In the large contributions (below) 100 PAC received $100,000 from Jim Onder.  He’s the brother to Bob Onder, term-limited Conservative Caucus senator.  Jim is a successful trial attorney.

There’s always been a strand inside the Republican Party that believes a robust legal system is the necessary compliment to small government, deregulated framework.  However most Missouri Republicans have demonized trial attorneys with the “frivolous lawsuit” broadside.  One such Republican sent me this: Their 100 PAC has denigrated other Senators for not being conservative enough, all the while using trial attorney funding for their attacks… How can senators say they’re conservative while teaming up with trial lawyers?

AFP State Senate Endorsements

Americans for Prosperity announced endorsements in three open-seat Republican primaries…

Senate 12 – J Eggleston.

Senate 20 – Curtis Trent.

Senate 22 – Mary Elizabeth Coleman.

These candidates received AFP-MO’s endorsement because of their commitment to supporting policies that get state government out of the way of hardworking Missourians seeking to build businesses, improve their communities, and give their families opportunities to grow and prosper. The organization will use its grassroots network of volunteers to educate voters about the candidates and generate support for their elections in November.

CPAC Endorsements

CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) endorsed…

Eric Burlison in CD-7. See it here.

Mission Continues Co-Founders Disses Greitens

The Post-Dispatch has a remarkable – but unsurprising – op/ed from the person who co-founded The Mission Continues with Eric Greitens.  He publicly asks Greitens to leave public life.  It reads as a plea for Greitens to remedy the erosion of his integrity by focusing on his personal life instead of pursuing an elected office.  Read it here.

Harbaugh said he often thinks of a conversation they had early on. They were driving around St. Louis in a white Ford Ranger, and Greitens wasn’t sure if he’d run for office as a Democrat or Republican. Then, he said, Greitens mentioned the idea of not running at all, to focus on being a good husband to Sheena and eventual father.  “I keep going back to the conversation,” said Harbaugh, 48, of Ohio. “How different his life would have been if he had listened to his better angels.”

Valentine Ducks Debate

KMOV cancelled their planned debate for the Democratic nomination for US Senate after Trudy Busch Valentine refused to confirm her attendance.  It’s normal that front-runners demur on debates feeling that they have more to lose than gain.

Lucas Kunce’s campaign issued a statement: “Former Georgia Senator David Perdue tried this strategy of avoiding debates last cycle --- he lost," says Kelli Kee, press secretary for Lucas Kunce. “It's disappointing to see a Democrat attempt the same Republican tactics. Campaigning is about showing up…”

Meanwhile

I haven’t really been following the other Democratic candidates, figuring they don’t have much chance of breaking through.  But one reader flagged this Instagram post from Spencer Toder where he tells a crowd it’s time to “impeach wrongfully elected officials.”  “I have no dog in the Dem MO Senate fight, but… What the hell does that even mean? Who in MO was wrongfully elected? Doesn’t exactly show much respect for Missouri voters. And although Toder has no chance of winning, this would certainly be a deeply misguided talking point for other Dems to adopt.”
