MOScout Weekender - Watching $$$ - Poll on Hunter and Donald - Hallway on Overrides and more...

Watching $$$

In the large contributions you’ll see a round of check that hit the House Republican Campaign Committee coffers from their summer caucus.  More coming I suspect. But…

·       Interesting to see the Carpenters’ Union leading the way with a $50K blast, more than even Rex Sinquefield’s $30K check.

Also in the large contributions, $100K from the Relators into Missourians for Fair Governance, a campaign committee set-up to prevent changes to the initiative petition process.

·       $100K is chump change to the Realtors, hardly amounting to even an ante.

Also

At the Governor’s Ham Breakfast that I missed yesterday, Rep. Richard Brown.  Brown, a Democrat, has a committee formed to run for lieutenant governor in 2024.

Sample of Comments

·       Zero chance

·       Unlikely that the Senate can unite on anything

·       Term limited governor who has a history of line-item vetoes that don't make sense. Look for an easy and affordable line item dealing with public safety to be overridden.

·       Collectively, the legislature can't tie its shoes. They will not be overriding any vetoes in September.

·       This Governor deserves to have his vetoes overridden, but they won’t do it.

Who Won the Week?

Jay Ashcroft – Getting sued gets you earned media just as well as suing folks.  And Ashcroft has been getting sued – on ESG, on library censorship, on abortion IP language.

Angela Mosley – It’s looking like a Mosely Family Dynasty to carry on the Elbert Walton political machine.  Sen. Mosley’s children have started committees to run in House 68 and House 75.

Mike Parson – Sold-out Ham Breakfast confirms he’s “king of the state fair and of Missouri’s ag community.” Plus, Hallway thinks his line-item vetoes are safe from overrides next month.

Denny Hoskins – It sounds like Caleb Rowden is deciding not to run for SOS, and Shane Schoeller gets name-checked by far-right pillow guy Mike Lindell.  Campaign’s going OK for Hoskins so far.
